Well, I am catching up with you guys, although my knowledge on current gen F-series is somewhat limited, if you guys have a question about pre-97's, I will answer, even if I don't know what the correct answer is.

I'll do my best to explain it to you. The horsepower is considerably lower on the 302. Lets do some comparing...
97/4.6l
220hp@4500rpm
290ft/lbs@3250rpm
96/5.0l
205hp@4000rpm
275ft/lbs@2600rpm

Now as you can see, there is a 15hp difference and a 15ft/lbs difference in torque. not much difference at all!! I honestly don't see how you can beat one hands down. I drove a 2k 4x4 4.6L and I know for a fact, that it won't beat my 89 302. And it's mostly stock, I figure about 190hp. There's supposedly a 30hp difference there. But I couldn't tell it. I put about 26 miles during the test drive. You also seem to be the only one who says that a stock 4.6L can beat a 5.0L. Wheres your proof? And why does the 4.6L weigh 200lbs more than a 5.0L if it is smaller, and has less components?

I know Im faster because I raced one and beat him by 1 and 1/2 truck lengths, and he was lighter! Dont know why its heavier either. Did you think that the truck you drove was a 4x4 and your's is a 4x2? Or is yours a 4x4?
