Chevy a Better Value ?
Got mine for $300 over invoice by being a COSTCO member and working through the fleet dealer. Saved at least $2,500 over retail, and generally they charge $400 over retail on XLTs for Costco members, but he gave me the $300 over invoice cause he accidently looked at the XL line first. Fleet Salesman told me the only way he could sell it cheaper is if I worked for Ford. In 1999, dealer mark up was 14% on the truck and 17% on the options.

Sweet99, did they have many 5.3L regcabs on the lot when you bought yours?
I checked 3 Chevy dealers when I was looking at trucks and didn't see any except for 4x4.
The Chevy dealers wouldn't come off the sticker price much when I was shopping for trucks.
A little over $20K is what I paid for mine.
Did you get Work or LS?

Bryan...
I was not offended in the least, and I don't think there's a member here that would ask you to leave (only one person has been "banned" from the site that I know of). I think I speak for the assembly when I say that all are welcome here. We all love our trucks...maybe a little too much sometimes *grin* And I'm sure everyone was just havin' a little fun at your expense
As far as proving which is a better value or which costs more or less, YOU CAN'T...plain and simple. Ford and Chevy have different pricing structures. Their option packages are put together differently. You can generalize, sure. But there is simply no way to prove which truck costs more or less because you can't do a strict "apples to apples" comparison. The trucks don't break down the same way. Hence the expression "COMPARABLY priced vehicles". And as I said, it doesn't matter. Do you love your truck? If the answer is yes, you got a good value!
You're a Texas fellow as well I see. Now...if'n ya wanna argue about BBQ...
Cheers! And welcome.

Hey, Sweet99: You're welcome here as a member of this board, as far as I'm concerned.
Don't take offense when we get to talking about Chevy drivers. I post a lot of jokes in Andthensometoo's Relatively Clean Truck Jokes thread. Changing my jokes so they refer to Chevy drivers or Shovie drivers is just my way to turn 'em into truck jokes.

Black 2000 SC XLT short-box. 4.2 V-6, 5-speed, 3.55 Limited Slip. Side steps, CD, remote entry, FORD box liner. Add-ons: Older Windstar driver's side wiper blade (with the air scoop, because I don't slow down when it rains), back-up beeper, "f150online.com" sticker and snazzy Tweetie Bird floor mats.
My third F-series: '73 F-100, '98 F-150 and '00 F-150. Great trucks!

You are more than welcome here SWEET99CHEVY! Similar to your post, the Chevy is an OK truck..I would not consider owning one...unless the F-150's reliability completely went downhill. The Tundra is still new and not tested.
Just expect to be occasionally jabbed at in a friendly manner... because you drive a #2 truck! hahahaha (like this)

54RegCab...There are not many Reg Cab 5.3 LS's...especially Black. I had been checking the lot almost daily for 2 months before this rolled in. I got a good deal cause I buy all my vehicles from this dealership, as well as my Dad. They want us to keep coming there.
Now...about that BBQ.....I smoke some ribs where the meat just falls off the bone!!!

Now in a recent ad they are claiming "the most powerfule V8 in it's class" 300HP.
They fail to mention this is for 3/4 tom trucks.
And if you want to compare 3/4 ton trucks, the Ford V10 or PSD beats Chevy hands down.
