My youngest son is wanting to go to Hendrix in conway Ar. $34,000 per year.
He has scholarships lined up so far for almost $20;000 per year.
But he can go to any Arkansas university for free. I'm trying to talk him into UALR. If he's depending on me for the remainder at Hendrix, I'm affraid my well isn't deep enough at the moment.
I think economics 101 will send him to UALR.

Some aid is first come first serve (federal work study, FSEOG, some state grants).

You should always fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It depends when your semesters start as to when and if you can get federal loans in time for you to use them. Stafford Subsidized Loans are great, a fixed 6.0% interest rate and you don't accrue interest while you are full time, the government pays it.

Student loans usually go to the school first to pay off your bill then the excess is refunded to you. I'm not sure on your school's time frame...
I forget, but I think I'm using all private loans. From emailing the school, they've been saying that they were sending out refunds since last week, and that mine was approved to be refunded as soon as they get the money, cause they were just waiting on the money from the loan company.

I think you mentioned you have a Cavalier you could drive or you could sell it also and get rides from friends. Or look into transferring to another school you could afford like a community college or taking a year off school to save some money. Just some suggestions... they may be hard decisions but might be the right ones to get through school. Maybe go to talk to the school or someone who could financially help you out.
No, I'm not going to sell my truck or boat. I'd have nothing to drive, and wouldn't get nearly what they are worth right now. Money isn't the issue here. The school f'cking up my loan is.

Haha... I know a kid who blew his FULL RIDE scholarship to Hendrix. Literally. Along with his savings.
