Question

By the way Ike, where did you get your horns?? We are thinking of changing to a Nathan M5. (Yeah, they are supposed to sound the same, but on a tape we have of them on trains, they sound different.)

Claudia: I bought mine from a collector in Roanoke, VA. It came off a Norfolk Southern locomotive, although I am not sure of the unit's number.

Switching to an M5? Personally, I like the sound of a K5LA or a Super Tyfon, but the P5 sure has a nice sound to it!

Just out of curiousity, do you know of someone or someplace to get horns? I'd like to find another. Please email me if you do! scott@ikemeyer.com

Talking

The reason most of the drivers wanted to replace their horns are the stupid drivers that cut them off and do generaly stuipd things wheil driving, The tickets where issued due to the horn being blown. Peterbilt trucks have really lousey horns if any member wants wants used ones don't get tthem off a pete,

P.s. how big is your air tank IKE? We had to hook up an aux tank to run them on the truck it was causing air waring lights to come on if they blew them more than a few sec's they need alot of volume (air)

Wink

IKE: Check your email!!

Steve: Run an extra 12 gallon tank from Wal-Mart off of your air supply. It handles 120 psi. (That's what we do.)

Steve: I use a 7 gallon tank filled at the corner gas station that handles 120 psi. My horn has been rebuilt with new gaskets so it's VERY tight and efficient, and allows nearly a minute of continuous blowing before the chimes start dropping out. All I need now is a 12 volt compressor!

Claudia: Thanks for the info!
