Post

For about 5 yrs, I had two jobs, one was shop foreman 50 hrs week (hourly, cuz they were a new shop) and 35 hours at jobe #2. I would get up at 1:00am and go to one job at 2:00, then be at the other job 30 mi away by 6:00am and work till 5:00pm. Thats was 164 Mi a day! One job was 7 days, and the shop job was 5 days, sometimes 6! I stll made it to class 3 nights a week. I have always had two or three jobs and never missed work, so I have no sympathy for the lazy!!
If I took all the hours I worked and divided them in to 40 hr weeks, then times them to get years, I would be at least 10 years older than I am. ...guess who made the most money from all my work? THE DAMN GOV'MENT!!!!
Now I just have the one job 7 days (30 hrs)and hire out the week ends! I get all kinds of job offers but, until my daughter is in school full time, I will keep what I have. More time to play with my Truck and on the 'puter when it is cold outside.

I hear ya Ford man. I like it though been doing it for 9 years now. I have lived in 4 different countries, currently in Australia. I'll keep it till something better comes along. But ther is allot of stuff that you have to put up with. No regrets. I'm proud to serve my country.

Been there, too (Perth/Freemantle, we moored in Rockingham). It's the right time of year down there. You need to take an early retirement and come be a civilian when this deregulation hits. There's going to be a lot of plants going up and operators are going to be in demand for awhile. If I'd been in the AF, I'd probably have stayed, but Navy was good because I got my belly full right quick and came back home. Haven't wanted for a job yet. We civilians don't have to take Anthrax vaccines or any of the inumerable useless shots provided by Uncle Sam. I had a good time, but I sure as hell don't miss it.

Ford Man,
It is bloody hot down here. I'm in the middle of the Out Back in South Australia. 5 hours from nowhere. If you have any good info on jobs out there, then I'm listening. I'm allways willing to try something new.

Welcome to the Board, rulucky. You may be half way around the world from me, but the Internet connects us all. Great, eh?

Can you post a pic of your truck? Bet the steering wheel is on the other side from mine! Or is it a US import? How long have you had it? As long as you're "down under", how about telling us North Americans a bit about trucking and Ford trucks in Australia? At the very least, add a signature with more details about yours. And you MUST buy an "f150online" sticker for your truck.

Black 2000 SC XLT short-box. 4.2 V-6, 5-speed, 3.55 Limited Slip. Side steps, CD, remote entry, FORD box liner. Add-ons: Older Windstar driver's side wiper blade (with the air scoop, because I don't slow down when it rains), back-up beeper, "f150online.com" sticker and snazzy Tweetie Bird floor mats.

My third F-series: '73 F-100, '98 F-150 and '00 F-150. Great trucks!

I wish I had my lightning over here, but it would wind up getting messed up. There are Kangaroos, Emu's, huge cows, sheep, eagles with wing spans of about 15 feet, all over the place. Not to mention the Road Trains. Those things are a pain in the a--. It is so strange driving over here. We had a 97 jeep wrangler American specks. Everything is backwards overhere, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to live over here.
About my Lightning. I just ordered a Paxton Novi 2000 supercharger for it 15psi..I have Edelbrock heads that have had some work, custom grind cam, 24# injectors, mass air, 1.72 roller rockers. Ported lower intake, custom exhaust with bassini??? headers, the transmission is rebuilt, and a few other little mods. On the out side I have 17x9.5 centerline fluttered star wheels, 275/50/17 nitto tires. Roll pan, hidden hitch, wood grain interior, over head console, Pioneer CD player. I'm hopeing when I get back to the states I will be able to run the 1/4 mile in the high 11's I have my fingers crossed.

In 1999 had lots of O\T worked 680 hours of Double Time. Guess how I got the money to by a new truck. Hopefully this year I won't just be driving to work and back.

4D THNDR-
The turbine fared well, but the condenser was getting new leaks on a regular basis (the cooling tower was FULL of sawdust by the end of the summer). The boiler was getting fairly worn, too, with several leaks, especially last summer (glad I wasn't in maintenence there, 'cause it's a HOT bitch inside the fire box).
