What Happened to the Broncos ?
When they stopped making the Bronco, they were claiming they were gonna come out with a vehicle reminiscent (spelling?) of the "original" Bronco of the late 60's early 70's. Something to compete with the Jeep. Supposedly not just in size but off-road ability also. After that, I haven't heard a word of Bronco mentioned.
Also, when we get Explorers shipped in, the slips call them two door bronco. (What an insult to an excellent truck.)

Fordman...
Obviously, were talking about the same thing here...That is what the dealerships have here, plain janes, in fact our company pickup 98 5.4l auto, is the "standard" edition, cheapo, no cruise! Only says F-150 on the fendors...I know this, because I drove it several times today, and the window sticker calls it that...
I talked to the dealer today, and he also says that Ford quit the "Custom" package in 1992, renamed it special, that explains why none of the F-series says custom on the fendors... You can still get the same equipment, but it is the "work" equipped now...I.e. the F-150 only decal...like you mentioned...

I heard that the Ford "Escape" show vehicle will hold the Bronco nameplate. Have you all seen it. I'm not sure if it's based on the Contour or Focus, but it really looks to be an off road power house! With roots in the Contour (or Focus) how could it not be worthy of the Bronco name.
*I am only kidding but I can hear the grumbles now. "What the helld'ya mean Bronco made out of a Focus!?"
The best Ford Vehicle I have owned to this day was my 94 Bronco EB w/351.

Saved my '87 5.0 EFI 4 speed from the crusher for about $500.00....She ain't much to look at right now, but with a little TLC she will in a few years....It's an '87 Bronco XLT p/windows, p/locks, A/C and yep thats right a 4 speed...mated to a 5.0L EFI(speed density) so far I've replaced ALL the U-joints, next will be tie-rods, and maybe a little 4" lift...it sports 31's now, but will have 33's soon,....Motor will be coming out in the spring, and a fresh 5.0 HO will be going in...gonna see if I can apply some "Mustang" power to her....so far the new motor has Holley Systemax Heads, 1.7 Roller Rockers, bore is 30 over, and maybe a Motorsport E or F cam..haven't decided yet...
nothing to fancy just a little more Grunt!!!
