Question America's Cup

For some reason there doesn't seem to be much interest here in the USA over the America's Cup races...the challenger series is taking place between AmericaOne and the Italian boat, Prada, and we are a little behind right now. The winner of this series gets to race New Zealand for the America's Cup. Just wonderin' if anyone out there has been following this, or even cares about it.

I like to watch the races, but there's not much tv coverage that I've been able to find. Too bad.

Since AmericaOne is based out of San Francisco and skippered by a local hero (Paul Cayard) we get some newspaper reports. Its not looking good ever since AmericaOne got penalized in that one race. I couldn't really tell from the coverage if we got jobbed or if the penalty was justified.

I believe ESPN2 carries the coverage, I was watching last night's race but it was going on 'till midnight. I never realized how fast those things can go.
Steffi didn't seem to be having too much fun!

My stupid cable company doesn't offer ESPN2. Steffi was quoted in the paper as saying something to the effect of "It was totally awesome! I got really wet."

Just think, the Yanks would be ahead by 4-2 in the best of 9 series if not for that penalty. We crossed the line first that race, and were made down 3-1 by the penalty, instead of tied 2-2.

After the fine tuning we've done in the challenger trials, will the Kiwis be able to hang with us after we dispatch the Italians? If we win, that means the Cup comes to San Francisco!

Cool

Sounds good, as long as they leave the catamaran in the closet...

Cool

Well, it's all tied now at 3 apiece. Next best of 3 wins the right to sail against NZ for the cup. Go AmericaOne! ...And Stefi did look a little bored; I guess that's the way the rich and famous live. Maybe they told her to shut up, sit down, hold on and, most importantly, don't touch anything. Me, I would have fallen overboard 'cause I would have been jumping up and down so much.
