Is it just me or....

can anyone else identify a vehicle at night be just seeing the illumination of headlights and/or taillights?

I remember one night going down a back road with my ex there was a car REALLY close on me. When I took a sweeping turn and got a better look of his headlights, I noticed it was a Crown Vic. At the end of the road we both pulled into a gas station and sure enough it was a maroon Crown Vic (slicktop) and asked him if it was reported stolen yet He got the joke.

But seriously, I can be driving at night and like a mile away tell whoever is next to me what kind of car it is and when it zooms by sure enough my HIDs will illuminate it enough to identify it. About 95% of the time I'm right.

Anyone else have this level of observation?

used to be very good at this when i wasnt driving, now that i drive its harder to pay attention that much to other cars at night to that detail.

Its also hard to do since there are like 40 million new "little cars/suvs" and getting new updates every 3 years.

Some of the newer pontiacs are very easy to tell. Another distinct one is the ford crown vic lights. Makes me nervous as hell when I see those following me in the mirror

Yeah, CV's with those rectangular lights and clear turn signals inside of the lights makes for easy ID. F-150s are also easy to spot, as are Chevy's.

I'm still good at it... in fact, I know who is not from around here when they travel down my road. They usually speed anyways and get caught up in a deer trap at the swamp. I've been finding a lot of dead deer carcasses down my road lately. hmm...

When I was much younger and had less to think about.

Also after you live in a few cities with more than a million people....it just matters less.

i think the easiest tail light to recognize is the late 90s, early 2k's firebirds with the honeycomb tail lights. Im not the best at headlights, as cars change to often. foglights tend to make it easier to identify for me

The only ones that register in my head are the CV's for some weird reason..... but for the most part yes about 95% of the time im usually right.
