Anyone know how to work on a chebby?
I got the beating of my life doing a timing belt and water pump on a friend's PT Cruiser. God, that was awful, the way the fenders are shaped, there's absolutely no room to get in there. Wanna work on the top end of the engine, jack it all the way up, wanna work on the bottom end, let the jack all the way down, up, down, up, down, up...
I'd shoot the sumbitch response for designing that car.

My beater Honda (decent car) is a pain to work on. 99.9% of everything on it is really simple if you think about it, there's just no room to work on it. I had to change a motor mount behind the engine and I had to work from above then get down and turn a wrench on my back and then work from above again it seemed like 100 times to get those 4 **** bolts out and get it changed. Got it all done and it didn't solve the problem I thought I had.
The brakes are a piece of cake though.

Someone oughta take this quote and throw it in their sig...

Oh, I know what you mean... my buddy takes his '07 Nissan Frontier to me to change his oil because you need to take off a front skid plate to get to his oil filter and for some reason he can't get his hand to fit in there. I've got small hands, and I can get it off in like two seconds. It was funny though, he brought it to a quik change and they charged him 80 bucks to change his oil... why? it was a pita for the dude that had huge hands... and I can tell he was ticked, because he even put the i4 filter on his v6! Was my friend pissed... wow... 80 bucks for oil and the WRONG filter.
How much do I charge him? Some good beer...

Man, I gotta start my own auto shop... helping out my friends when they need it is fun!
That's what I feel like I am doing now. My normal job is at my university but being on break I have picked up quite a few odd jobs. Just the other day I was in walmart with a couple friends and the guy I rode with was going to get his oil changed while we wandered around the store. Turns out the wait was an hour and a half so I said just buy the oil and filter and give me $10. Well the other guy liked that idea so both my buds bought oil and a filter for their pontiacs and all said and done I got them both done in about 30 mins after we got back home.

Plus those places are in too much of a rush and wind up stripping the oil pan plug and/or the filter port.
Not to mention, it's not bad getting dirty figuring all the "walking" your car saves you.

I sure wouldn't like to walk from my house to work every morning. Be loyal to your car, as most just take their cars for what they are. <-- Why auto quality is going down... hint.. hint..

But I do need to change the Efan before it warms up again. It looks like it's going to be a freaken test of will.
