Type of bed floor

Just like the title says, if you had to re-do your bed floor (like I have to), would you re-do it like the factory bed using a factory floor or would you re-do it in 1/8" checker plate?

I'd probably just do it in plate. Can't be that hard to make it.

Nope... And we have this *fantastic* $1,000,000 machine at work that will plasma cut it, and punch/drill all of the holes. It'd take no more than 15 mins to do it all. Weld on the supports, cut out the old floor, weld in the new floor, and re-mount the bed and I'm done. It'd cost me a case of beer.

Shoot, I'd already have it done.

The floor in the new bed trashed?

The floor in the new bed is perfect. But it's white. And the new bed needs a new bedside. Was talking with my buddy/the foreman today about it, and he brought up the checker plate idea, which is growing on me.

I think the corrugated metal, even though thinner will be stronger due to the corrugation.

I'd go with the 1/8" checker plate, I like the way it looks too.

Oh chit. You've got the approval by Manual. I'd go the other direction.

I think the checker plate would be cool idea and if it'd just cost you a case I'd do it in heart beat.

Is what your calling checkerplate also called diamondplate? Kinda confused never heard of "checkerplate" before. If this is the same thing I think it would be cool, but that stuff is going to be pretty expensive isn't it. I personally would just use a stock floor and have it sprayed with the bedlining of your choice.

Diamond plate is checker plate... if you look at it, you can actually play a game of checkers on it.

Or you can get a dry erase marker and play a game of tic tac toe many times on the top of a truck box...

Got wayyy too much time on my hands.

Actually, diamondplate and checkerplate are two different things.

How so? Unless you call diamond plate because it is plated and you are calling checker plate because it is not plated.

Also diamond plate in other countries is also called checker plating.

Well now hwm you've got me confused... I was under the impression that it was going to look just like the diamond plate, only they call it checker plate. Who knows. I'll have to look into it.

jrb, it'd cost me a case of beer to get it done.

Can't go wrong then!! I would jump on that deal before they change their mind or get busy with work.

Let us know how it turns out.
