jrb, it'd cost me a case of beer to get it done.
Yeah... I'm confused too... I knew about the different styles and plated vs not plated... but I just googled it and a lot of manufacturers call it checkerplate/diamondplate when you go to order it.

Manual and hwm3, you are BOTH correct on what checker plate is. Manual, what you posted is one bar checker plate. hwm3 posted 5 bar checker plate.

My bed floor will be made out of the one bar.

jrb, they're actually pretty busy now, but they love beer.

Nice choice! I would've either gone with the 1 bar or 2 bar...

I've got a Code Alarm SRT-9000 to install, but other than that there are no new mods, beside the bed floor. Next mods for the truck will be a compressor wheel for the turbo, gauges, and by then I'll probably need tires, but all of that won't be coming for awhile. Gonna try to pay off some bills first. And I just bought a new(er) and bigger boat motor, so that needs to get done too. Semester finished ok, I passed everything so I can't complain.

Whats next for your truck? You'll have to swing by my house sometime and have some frosty... apple juices.

I'm done! I got my BS in CIS... Dunno what Zach is doin' though...

Now since I'm working, and spending a little more cash on my truck, I just realized I need to do some interior remodeling for my parents... work, work work... and not enough money -- ever! :o

Diamond/checker plate would look cool as hell, but my concern would be being able to slide things in and out easily. Wait, that may help you in the long run, depending on the way you drive

Be sure to put pics up during the process, that's a pretty interesting project

I'd prefer to have things NOT slide around in it. And it will be getting a Line-X.

Because mine has a huge hole in it due to the *awesome* bedliner. It trapped water and rubbed and rusted. The bed floor is rusting from the TOP down.

Don't be scared. It is the *****ty brand of bedliner. My F-150 had the factory type hard liner in it. Underneath that bedliner it looked great. This bedliner is total crap.

Well, mine I bought aftermarket.... it seems to be a decent liner... but I'm now paranoid from seeing that carnage!

Are you cutting out the old bed and welding in a new floor using the diamond plate? Or are you just tacking it to the old floor?

Strange, that bed liner looks like the same one I have (although I have an entirely different body style). I've had it out a couple times and no sign of rust although the paint is rubbed completely down to the metal in some places.. But there are a few holes drilled in the front of the bed for drainage.

Any pickup with a drop in liner that has the chance for water to get in it will rust, its a given.

Should have seen the bed (or lack there of) of my dads 96 Chevy with a drop in liner. Between sitting outside, having bags of salt break open in the back and everything else, well, it really didnt have a bed at all.

Zaairman, if you LineX or Rhinoline or whatever the bed floor and use diamondplate, wont the bed lining just cover up and hide the design in the diamondplate? Seems not very worthwhile to me if your doing it for the look. But then again, for a case of beer....
