Talking

I have a 99 SC Flareside 4x4 ORP with a 5.4 auto weighing in at just over 6500 lbs. This is nothing to brag about but I don't think it is too bad, I took it to a drag strip to grudge race it to see what it ran. Bone stock it ran a consistent 17.5 in the quarter at 77.5 MPH. Races start again in March and I can't wait. I'll see if the money I spent on the catback exhaust, K&N airfilter and a superchip is worth it. But all I have to say is that I lost to two Lightnings but beat a Chevy 350. Need I say more? I'll lose to a Ford any day!

Hey Sweet!

Could you beat a 2000 Silverado equipped with a 5.3L/Auto and 3:73 gears? My dad has a 98 Extended cab 2wd 350/auto 3:73 gears. That is a really nice truck. It will give my 302, A real run for its money. And its basically stock, ecept for a Filtercharger. He's planning on a 2k or 2001 Silverado, or a 2k or 2001 F-150 w/5.4L. He personally likes the Silverado, and I myself am impressed with it! Specially now that they have 285hp!!!!!

Well our mssg board is better than yours Sweet99 or you wouldn't be here.
Ohhh, I forgot Chevy owners don't have a site.
Too bad.
Maybe if Chevy owners didn't have to put so much $$$ into keeping thier trucks alive then maybe they could start talking about some mods.

That's a good question PastMaster. I haven't raced another Silverado before. I will look around for those too.

Hey guys, I think Sweet99Chevy is being a good sport.
Let's remember why this is such a great site.
No reason for anyone to get their feelings hurt.

I am curious about that name, Sweet99Chevy.
Could that be anti-freeze you're smelling?

Sweet99---

Actually I am very "up" on what truck can do what...maybe it is YOU who needs to do the homework. The 5.4L F-150 is the fastest truck on the road right now (reg cab vs reg cab or extended cab vs extended cab).

Oh sure on the Z-28 (let's compare apples to apples) maybe I can take a Viper while I am at it..(humor)...but no problem for any stock, extended cab (since mine is) 99 or 2000 Silverado, GMC or Tundra. The guy in the Z71 is the one who wanted to go for it....and lost. He did have a 3-4 truck head start on me and did pull away from me at first. Can your truck take a Z28? Shake your head side-to-side.....NO!

Actually...I had him before 90 mph...but when I looked down I had just hit 95. I rarely do this...but wanted to see what this baby could do.

I am more than impressed......

All partisan opinions aside, how much difference is there in performance between a 2000 5.3 Chevy (285 hp) and the 2000 5.4 Ford? In a truck with the same body style and number of driven wheels, is one faster than the other or is it heads up? I know the Ford has more torque at a lower rpm, but in a straight drag race, does the Shovie run better at high rpm? Just curious.
