help decipher this-Vietnamese drop

Try this again, After a fire fight in Viet Nam 1970, we went out for a head count of dead or wounded, and I found this paper and tucked it away in my shirt pocket. Well, after more than 30 some years past and I ran across this piece of paper in my photo album. I tried everything I could think of to decipher the words with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Unfortunately, it brought back bad memories. But I still to this day I would like to know what it says. Thanks, And MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all.

Edit: What got me looking for this album was a picture of a very faithful friend i wanted reminisce. Took me four hours no luck, and took my wife about 10 min. to find it. What would we do without women?

That's very interesting. I would try emailing a Vietnam embassy, consulate or any other source you can find. http://www.vietnamembassy-usa.org/ (contacts at bottom of page) If you send out enough emails to enough different sources I'm sure you'll find someone willing to translate it for you. If you do, please let us know the results.

I'm vietnamese and I can read this letter for you. Thats a communism poem. I can tell you the general meaning of it. I feel really sorry for you that you was in the vietnam war. It was a very horrible war.
But here we go:

after so many years of cruelty
you are following the western?
buying bombs and destroying rice fields
loosing places and destroying bones.
people just eat rice with lots of water (is common meal when you are poor, very cheap and filled your stomach for a short time) and plants
clothes are torn and you have nothing but illness
blood over and over young sodiers
together we could have freedom.

I hope I could help you
Merry Christmas :santa:

Thank you so much. another chapter in my life resolved. I looked for this old album recalling the friends I was with during the holidays heating up our c-rations on a vice with a small chunk of C5 explosive. It would burn a long time but had to very careful not to disturb it or drop it when lit. That was our Christmas festivities. Thanks for the help and a Merry Christmas to as well.

Edit: Yes it was a horrible war with no leadership and no direction or plan.

Another few words I would like to mention. Please say a prayer for our men and women in uniform. I just know how much they are missing their loved ones back here in the WORLD, being deployed elsewhere. And I can tell you that there will be dedicated heroes in war zones that won't be lucky enough to eat anything let alone a Christmas dinner. I know I'll be thinking and praying for them as in past holidays that have come and gone, I feel somewhat guilty to enjoy this season. God bless them. come home safe.
