Post Continuous Customization

I think I have a disease of some sort. Ever since I got my new truck 6 weeks ago, I cannot stop thinking of and buying upgrades for her. I have already sunk several hundred into locking lug nuts, locking gas cap, bug guard, bed liner, and K&N. Plus another grand planned in the form of fog lamps, molded running boards, and body side moldings. You'd think that would be enough, but then I started to look into getting my grille repainted to match the truck. And I know that won't be the last item. I never realized how expensive a new truck could really be. Does anyone else have this "disease" I seem to have? Is there a cure for it (not that I want to stop)? Oh well, I'm enjoying it the whole way.

Yeah there IS a cure: Buy a chevy, Oh you'd still be "working" on it, (just to keep it running) but you wouldn't be enjoying it anymore

Hey Freezer!

It's called Truck-smack, and the only cure I've found so far is to buy a bigger, more expensive item (in my case, a house) and start fixing that up.

Of course, then you get House-smack and to get off of that you have to start buying corporations and then Countries...

Oh well, at least my wife can understand the house-thing. She never said anything bad about my truck-smack addiction, but I could tell she was starting to wonder just what kind of freak she had married.

truck smack is problbly the only thing more addictive than this website.
All in all I think they feed each other.
The more you are on the site the more you want to do to the truck and vice versa.
I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to do but I just took on a 413.00 truck payment.
Btw how many of you own your truck outright?

Ok, at least I'm not the only with this "problem." It's good to know that there are others out there with the continuous need to buy more stuff for their babies. Oh, Andthensometoo, I don't really like your cure, I'd rather like with my condition. To answer your question 54regcab, I do not own my truck outright. I tried, but I just couldn't come up with 30K and had to settle for 17K down. But by this time next year I'll own her.

Thumbs up

Hey, come on guys this is the cleanest, safest addiction going! I love customizing, I have gone as far as searching for sponsors (help cut down on the cost), and attending as many shows as I can. My wife swears I'm committing bigamy, (I spend more time with the truck then her, so she says), but I have gotten her involved. She drives the truck daily to work and LOVES getting the looks. I have big plans this winter. First, relocate the tailgate handle to the inside (program to open with the door remote), take the badges and tail lights off, smooth it all, add a roll pan just like the corvette. I know, yeck, a chevy, but guys/gals that was what I gave up to get the truck, so I'm making my truck run as fast and I want it to look as good. Besides you can't win at shows unless there is some form of exterior modifications. Take a look at my web site. There have been a few changes recently, ie, Billet Badges, Billet Antenna, removed the "Sport" sticker and door guards. Keep looking more to come.

HI!... Hey 54REGCAB $413.00 eh, I'll trade you! Here in CANADA I am paying $715.00(CAN) a month for 4 years and then I can call it mine. By the way, the amount you are paying is a little less than what the dealers here want for leasing!

Cool

HI!... Hey CABLEGUY great looking truck! After I got my rear springs fixed, my truck sits about as low as yours. It handles great now. The last 2 days here in WINDSOR it has been getting down to about 60-65 degrees after 1am. So tonight I decided to go make a solo pass out at the local "STREET STRIP" (exactly 1320 ft, I even measured it!). The cooler air really does the trick for this truck. Usually in the daytime when it is about 95degrees and a ton of humidity I can only hit 140kph right on. Tonight when I ran it it spun the tires for about 10 feet and I hit 144-145kph. Not bad for a truck that does'nt have the SUPERCHIP in it and up and running(NO START PROBLEM). I figure it would probably be a good race between the two of us. Keep me updated on your 1/4 mile times and mods because I think we both want to see low 14's out of both our trucks eventyally.

I must not have the bug, I still have $10.00 in my checking account, and only $1000 in truck parts this month. If I get this addiction I'll let you know after I polish my wheels, wash, polish, wax, shine the chrome, and replace the entire suspension again.

Bought my beast in July 96 but I've "owned" my beast since Dec 96!! It was my Christmas present that year. I can't even remember what the payment used to be!! And I never even thought of doing anything to it until I stumbled onto this site. This place is a very bad influence on me, not to mention I now have a severe case of leadfootitist caused by the flowmaster and helped along by the superchip.
Freezer: you have a very expensive 99. I had looked into trading my beast for a similar (to mine) 99 w/captains chairs and it was running around $24k!! (of course I was having to beat the saleman to a pulp to get that price) Good luck on paying it off, no payments are great.

Actually, these trucks are only expensive if you make the payments. I have discovered that my truck stock, is faster than what the finance guy drives. I had asked Mike Troyer to sell me a SuperChip on time. Then eventually, I could let everybody here know whether Mike's Lincoln could outrun a SuperChipped F150.
