Quick! Where to go in Detroit!?
I got my Christmas gift early, the girlfriend is flying me to Detroit to spend the holidays with her and her family. I will have a day or two to myself and would like to see as much "Ford" stuff as possible. Any leads on where to go, who to contact, where to find info, would be greatly appreciated!! I'm so psyched!! Thanks in advance!

Damn ya beat me to it Jim! My five year old just loves it there! in the same lot is an all Ford stuff (forgot name) building whereas the musium itself is kind of a "tech archive" building. This could easily take up two days. Here is the # for info(313)271-1620 Call them they are very helpful, they will even give you directions on the phone. We might go there this Friday (no school).

Hey, don't forget about those crazy pieces of a guy statue downtown. The weird one that looks like he's melting into the ground. No wait, that's in DC. OK, I think I remember somekind of strange statue in Detroit
I did enjoy looking at all the architecture on the buildings downtown. But I'm a drafter and I get into that kind of stuff. Also did the Ford Museum, loved it. And if you really want to kill some time, take the bridge over to Canada and the tunnel back.

... On second thought, could you go to Dearborn and get the names of the Crack-Heads that put together my wife's Mustang?

Pretty much sounds like my trip....from Vegas, there three days and back to the "warm" weather! I would be happy to pound in a few heads for ya while I'm there if you'd like!
Jim, Andthensome, Tina,
Thanks for your inputs and information! I will let everyone know how the museum is and any other Ford related thing I can do!!
As for the Redwings.....I grew up in the desert, not much into ice anything!

Make sure to go downtown and eat some Greek food. Oohpah (or however you spell it - when they light the cheese and liquor appetizer). Look up my old girlfriend and slap her hard! She has probably done something to deserve it since I left.

Yes, do not ignore Greektown downtown! Grew up across the river from Detroit, and if you are a "city boy" you'll be alright there downtown...as long as you leave before dark!
Also across from the Henry Ford Musuem there is Greenfield Village if it is still there, also an interesting place to visit.
And while you are at it, taking the bridge and tunnel back and forth to Windsor, make sure, if you are the gambling type to take in the Casino in Windsor, Ontario while you are there.
If travelling single...or with the guys...as far back as I can remember, Windsor has 13 liquor licensed strip bars where women strip to the BUFF (so I'm told)--well call it college experience...but that was moons ago.
I didn't tell you this, I still have family there...LOL

Ladies, don't read this.
If you go to a strip club in Canada, don't take a Tootsie Roll Pop from one of the dancers, if you can imagine where it's been!
That was the specialty of one of the clubs there. Ah, er, um, so I'm told. Downtown has some great hotdog stands too. Late at night, after a night of boogieing and drinking, man did they taste good.
