Well I ended up going to Best Buy tonight and getting Vista Home Premium. I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Once I got past user control access and all that crap, it's pretty nice. I like visually appealing software, so maybe that's why. As far as the new PC, im happy I finally have it running. A Q6700, 4 gigs of ram, and a 9800GTX+ Superclocked. This thing is a beast. Only game I've tried so far is GTAIV and it runs at a constant 40+fps. Gonna have to end up getting an external hard drive enclosure (right now I think so, but I may be able to squeeze it in the case) for my other drive(s).

Will have more to chime in with tomorrow.

edit: the one thing I am amazed with in this new PC is the download speeds. I've never downloaded at more than 600kb/s before. Today just downloading a few necessary apps for my new PC i hit over 1mb/s multiple times.

Nice.

Vista isn't as bad as the MAc lovers like to say. Mine has been flawless for me on my new PC (built it after cyber monday).
New Intel Core i7 920
MSI x58 Platinum mobo
4g ddr 1333 (ie pc3 10666hz)
WD velociRaptor 150gb HD, sata 2 10,000 RPM
upgraded CPU cooler
Vista home premium
and my old 8800GTS 512

It scores max scores (5.9) in every single category in Vista.

Are you running a single monitor? With that kind of power, you should save up for some dual widescreens. If it runs that well with Vista (which is a major resource hogger IMO) imagine what it would be able to run if you had stuck with SP2. I heard Crysis was an awesome game for PC. If you can run that, you can run just about any game ever made for a computer
