Unhappy Speeding Ticket

Well I got my first ticket in my truck today and it pissed me off that the state trooper didn't give me a warning instead of a ticket less than a week from Christmas. I didn't have a bad attitude either so I thought I might get a warning but he gave me a ticket anyway.

I am happy to report that I just went to court today for a "20 over" and The Officer asked me what I was going to do. (after showing me his report with all the details, like I was the only one on the road at the time, and when the radar gun was last calibrated, and what it's settings were ect.) So I said "well against the advice of every one I know including other Officers, I was going to plead "stupidity" because, I was acually listening to the engine at the time, and when I looked down and saw how fast I was going, I slowed down. It was not my intention to speed (this time) and once I realized I was speeding, I quit. And thats the truth.
Well I guess it sounded stupid enough, so he reduced it to a "five over"
Merry Christmas Officer!

I was driving to work today, I was doing 85 mph. There was a Dakota R/T flashing his lights behind me, so I pulled into the middle lane and let him go.
About a mile up the road my radar detector went off, so I slowed down. About 30-45 seconds later there was a State Trouper pulling the Dakota over.
As I drove bye, I looked over at him and laughed.

Cool

Two months after getting my truck (and two years since my last ticket) I was going through a section of Columbia (54regcab back me up here) that changes from 35 to 25. Cant remember the road but it was off of Five Points heading towards Sumter. Got hit with 10 miles over but showed up for court and had it reduced by 1/2, that was cool with me because it was a 4 point ticket that wound up being 2.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one to end up with a ticket. But after reading Raouls post it made me feel a little better about it.

Well here's my story...I haven't had a ticket since 1989. And of course my record was horrendous over a ten year period, from 1979 to 1989, while I lived in So. Cal. 26 speeding tickets and 2 one year suspensions for points ( from all those darn speeding tickets).
Well, last month I was on my way to Dallas, and just south of Amarillo (about the exact place I got one in 1983) I was pulled over on highway 285 going 85 in a 55. What is with this 65 during the day and only 55 at night when there isn't a soul on the road. What really got me was he popped me with his gun from the other direction and when he flew through the center divide I knew I was had! The worst part was his partner thought the truck was really cool and he figured it was pretty fast. No forgivness on the "bosses" part though...but as he handed me the ticket and we said our goodbyes I nailed it and burned away..their headlights disappeared.
Next was in the wee hours of the morning just before turning east on 35 to Denton I was once again pulled over (the exact same situation), except this time I was doing 95 in a 55. Of course on the ticket, from just hours earlier, it has a breakdown on the back for what the cost is based how much over the speed limit you are...and for this amount it could be "court"!!! Yikes!! So I was very worried. Well he asked the usual question, "is there some kind of emergency sir?" I explained my nephew was playing in a "football" championship this morning and ...BINGO...Texan's Love Their Football (so I learned later that day). And the officer wanted to start chatting about football (of course at that moment I became the biggest Dallas Cowboy fan in Texas). He said, " I'll let ya go so you can make the game, and might I suggest ya keep it under 85 on highway 35 and you should make it without gettin pulled over"...roger that officer...GONE!!! 85 exactly!!! and I made it to the game (even though it wasn't that morning it was that afternoon). But come on isnt that the only time we're allowed to tell a little white lie?
Of course that morning in Dallas my sis took me to an electronics store for the purchase of a radar detector. i had to buy the biggest, baddest, most hi-tech I could find. And man did it work great on the way home to Albuquerque...averaged 95-100mph and NO TICKETS!!! YAHOO!!!!!!!!!

Cableguy,

It would be very hard to keep that truck under 100!

Great truck, the 4X2 with the 5.4 is nothing but power.
