It would have been really amazing if:

A) He caught both of the shoes and threw them back at the guy. Lol.
B) Dodged the shoes, grabbed them and took them back to the guy while saying "You dropped these"

What kind of idiot throws his shoes? Does he not realize that he lives in a desert and he will burn his feet?

It didn't take them long to create that!

After watching the video a couple times I noticed that the Iraqi President tried blocking the second attempt. Thought that was kinda cool.

Also like the fact that the shoe thrower got a serious pounding off camera. The news is saying he's got some broken bones now.

In this situation, Chris is the speaker. His statement is contradictory to itself. We didn't technically give him freedom. Wouldn't that make it verbal irony?

I'm no English teacher though. Could you, and in at least two paragraphs, please completely explain how it is not irony. Don't forget to support your answer.
Actually, it is Situational Irony. The situation is the opposite of what one would expect---it is ironic that now the Iraqi people are free to express their opinions...even by throwing a slider or knuckle-curve at "W" himself. It cannot be dramatic irony, as the definition of that is that the character says something purposeful and with seriousness, but the audience or the reader sees the actual opposite.

Verbal irony borders on sarcasm, and I doubt that Chris was being sarcastic at all when he claimed that libs have no sense of humor...although that in itself could be construed as dramatic irony, as Chris is making a serious statement about something where others see the opposite to be true---that libs may indeed have a sense of humor...

Now, the fact that Chris accuses the libs of not having a sense of humor while he himself is totally devoid of one could be taken as situational irony.

Chris---when do you get out of detention?

Have to disagree. Size 10 camel loafers don't have the aerodynamic qualities to maintain a proper spiral at that distance. Gripping the toe between the thumb and side of the index finger is the key to a well thrown shoe. And seriously...where was the secret service? I don't see anybody around?

I have to agree. Those shoes flew like boomerangs with pretty good velocity.

Someone joked that Pres Bush said "he was no Lame Ducker."

I give the thrower a 8 for the throw...even on the way down the second shoe still on target.
I give Pres Bush a 9.5 on the duck moves.

SS get a .5 for response.
