Post whats the worst pickup you ever had?

Hands down my absolute worst was a 1991 GMC Sonoma. It was crappy running (pinged at any speed), leaked water inside the cab, sun visor broke off in my hands, was hard to get in reverse. And that just the start. It overheated going up hill, had NO power to speak of and the fuse box was installed incorrectly by the factory. The center seatbelt somehow refused to unlatch one time when my son was in it (had to used my pocket knife to cut him out). Man what a POS! The bedliner rubbed the paint of in BIG chunks. Well to say the least it was sold. I bought it with 17,00 miles and got rid of it with 28,000 miles. I hated it!

Well I was going to complain about a '92 F-150 that wouldn't go in reverse and a '95 4x4 Toyota Tacoma (with a 2.7L) that hardly had enough power to turn its own wheels (33x12.5), but neither one of these seem to terribly bad compared to the Sonoma mentioned above, so I'm just going to consider myself lucky. Best wishes to all . . .

The worst pickup I ever had was a 96 base Tacoma. Actually, its not a bad truck, I only had two. It was small, almost killed myself when pulling into traffic, near bare-bones on my truck. Atleast three times the taillights lost connection (no signal, no brakes, no backup). Slower than a turtle uphill. But it looks sweet, I got lots of complements on that truck (looks). I fell in love with that truck and I used to cry when I got it totalled. It was a blessing in disguise though. That thing was on lease, and if I still had it, I wouldn't have the F-150. If I were to have two trucks, I would have either a 7.7K V8 F-150 or F-350 PSD and a Tacoma PreRunner. Oh, it got rammed by a Ford Bronco. The Bronco continued forward and hit a parked Explorer which moved it and hit a parked Van. Both the Explorer and the Tacoma was totalled, but the Bronco was alive (hope it explodes, along with the bastard driver).

I have only had 4 pickups, the worst was the 98 F-150 I had, it was wrecked by the previous owner. That had a lot to do with it's problems. The two Rangers I had were perfect and my 99 F-150 is not far behind. The worst car I ever had was an 87 Hyundai, it was my ex-wifes car. It was a P.O.S. contest between her and her car, in the end she won. They both live in a jukyard now.

I've never HAD anything other than a Ford Truck, but I once drove my boyfreinds "Toy" the choke would stick open when you were driving at high speeds (80mph for a toy) and I would have to leave it in gear (stickshift)and turn off the key to get it to stop. Scarry!!!

for me : the worst one was a '90 toyota. heard so much about their reliability that i wound up getting one. first new truck i ever bought. steering column fell out, defroster wouldn't clear windows, seat wouldn't slide forward to get to rear seat, transfer case stuck in 4wd often, windows wouldn't roll down. when i noticed it never seemed to look quite right i parked on a level driveway and checked truck. ooops frame was bent, later confirmed by shop. only the steering column was fixed and that w/o a loaner car dealer had nothing to say except that toyota could be this way because their customers would buy cars there no matter what.
i parked it on the dealers lot 6 mo. after purchase and said he could have it back. took a hit in the credit rating but there was no way i was gonna keep that pos.

Well, the only other truck that I've had was my Nissan which i had no prblems with at all in 106,000 miles.
However my F150 has already been in for major tranny work a 3,500 miles.
Reliability: Nissan
I do love the conviences of my F150 and it certainly drives a lot better to.
Comfort: Ford
BTW as far as unreliable cars the award goes to the Oldsmobile POS Acheiva more problems than Steve's server will hold.
(Maybe why I bough a Ford instead of GM?)

Worst pickup I've ever had?

It would have to be that Redhead in Baltimore. Her name was Rita. She chain smoked and cussed like a sailor. She laughed at everything I said and I'm not THAT funny. It only took her two hours to drink me under the table. Then she took my wallet.

This all happended at a time when I was to young to remember, but my dad in the late 70s and early to mid 80s had several different brands of vehicles. Jeeps, pontiacs Buicks, and Oldsmobiles and 2 chevy trucks. Needless to say he hasn't owned any thing but a ford since about 1984 or 1985. One of the chevy trucks broke down all of the time. One day while cutting firewood miles back in the woods. The chevy starter overheated and would not crank the truck. He sat there for hours trying to crank it. He had just quit smoking recently, but he was just a lookin for a match. I really believe he would have burned the truck if he had a match. This is what reinforces that,: he was checking trotlines when his outboard wouldn't crank. He pulled on the rope until he had blisters, after that he decided to start paddling. The motor was dead weight, so in the river it went.

Well this is my first truck so I haven't had any bad ones yet. But I have driven a bad one it was a 89 toyota 4 banger with a 4 speed. Just your basic truck nothing on it no radio or a/c well the company bought it for a delievery truck and well we only had it about a week and the brakes went out both front rotors had to be replaced. Then it was wrecked about 2 months latter. After it was fixed more and more things started to go wrong with it.

Damn Raoul, ya beat me it! I was going to say that I was almost (well...in his mind) picked up by a guy at the oil change shop. He got my # from the info sheet and called and then followed me around. I almost ran over him in my Ford, but I didn't want his blood messing up my paint! I knew the manager of that shop and promptly got him fired instead.

I saw the topic and I just knew what Raoul's answer would be, sure enough it was there lol.

Owned two Toyota's before my 2 Fords, all have been great trucks. Love my FORD but leery about the tranny's in them.

I have only owned 3 truck so far, all fords

1983 F-150 XLt Reg cab Longbed 302/aod
and the 93, and now 89

but my dad has had some bad experiences, with Chevys so far

He bought a 92 Chevy x-tended cab shortbed 4x4 with a 350 700R4, and loaded. In fact we still have it, but don't own it. It had 13k on it when he bought it and it has 168k now, its on its 4 alternator, and 4 windshield, and rebuilt tranny. Plus the paint is absolutely the most crappiest, behind my 93's paint job, you get close to anything, off goes the paint

Ok, not a pickup but a SUV. I had a '92 GMC Typhoon. Fast as hell, but out of the 10 months I had it, the truck went to the shop 10 times. Not worth the $500 payment and another $150 a month insurance.
