Apparently the world was supposed to end in 1988 as well...

The only thing that ended that year was 1987. And bad 80's music.

I know why the Mayan calendar has the end of time at 12-21-2012.

The old Mayan calendar-maker dude, who actually made the Mayan calendar, devoted his life to making it. Every day, he added new days, new weeks, new months and new years. Over and over. On and on. Day in and day out.

Needless to say, this was rather tedious work. Very boring.

Non of the other Mayans envied him or his daunting task. After years and years, actually a lifetime of making the Mayan calendar, he died. He had gotten as far as Dec 21, 2012.

No one else resumed the task of continuing to make the Mayan calendar, sooo......

nah its all BS. I did a lot of research on this a while ago when I heard about this. Appearantly Nibiru, or what we know it as planet X was supposed to have hit earth in 2004. Never happend. So what did all the doomsdayers say oh it was a miscalculation. After everything that I heard, its a load. It is thought that Nibiru comes around every 3600 years roughly. Some said that the star of Bethlehem (sp?) was actually nibiru leaving our solar system. But when you think about the science, a planet with this mass would not be able to catch the pull of the sun. Unless, there is a sister sun out there, which it sling shots around. Then again, it would just keep in orbit with that one. There was so much science behind this proving it wrong. If nibiru was coming, we'd already feel the affects. If it were getting close, we'd be seeing a pole shift with our planet. we'd notice a change in some of the planets orbits, and the odds of it actually running into another planet before it comes close. when they thought of this theory, they didnt think of it correctly. And how can you go by a myan calendar, when the myans couldnt even predict their own demise. I think people just have way too much time on their hands. The significants of that day, is the day that the myan calendar goes into a new age. What we'll know as the golden age. I think anyway, its an age of understanding. I dont think even they were advanced enough to know that this day would be one that nibiru would strike earth. And as for a pole shift, that couldnt be the end of man kind. It took man kind a long time to evolve. If you believe in evolution. So that means, that if nibiru came around before within the past 3600 years, there would have been an extinction, because of the pole change. Cant happen that way. And you'd think, if it gets that close every 3600 years, there would have been a lot more talked about it through out history. Which there isint. Its just a theory that even astronomists were looking into. Because something was pulling on the orbit of neptune. So they figured it was another planet. An X planet. Just like an X factor, the unknown link. But searching they havent found another planet coming this way. But they did find another planet, in another solar system, with water. I spent for ever researching this, because it scared the living crap out of me. Im only 18, I dont want to be gone when im 21. I rest easy knowing it was a load of crap.

If it's gonna happen, I hope it happens soon!! Maybe the world needs a "Damnation Alley" or a "Road Warrior" type of adjustment again... Kinda like the big flood that occurred a long time ago, if you believe in that kind of stuff???

It seems to me the world is mostly F' up right now and only getting worse....

Sure, this is my 'dooms day' mood today and I don't care! Life's been very good to me, so it's not like I think this way all the time, but man... All the bitching that goes on and my rights this and my rights that and all the greed and corruption that people think they have a 'right' to F everyone else and the news only reporting on all the bad stuff for 50 minutes and then toss in a 'nice' story that lasts about 2 minutes is just getting pretty damn old...

I live near an active volcano, and right now, I wouldn't be too upset if it just blew up!

........ Ok, that felt good.... Now I can get back to the real world and worry about everything again!!

Mitch

We have close calls quite often. Cosmology is a hobby of mine. The link below is a cbs report from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Just google "asteroid close call" you will see there have been many close calls. It is a matter of playing odds as to when the next strike will happen.

As far as polar shift, People always think of it as Putting something in reverse. Actually the pole has been shifting slowly for the lifetime of the planet. It is a continuous process that never stops. The magnetic pole is not one place, but several that act together. Sometimes in history is has not been an accurate 15*
