Sounds like they were trying to sell Obama's vacant seat to the highest bidder.

Can you explain what you meant by the Obama part?

 

From what I have heard so far, Obama wanted a part in naming his successor. The governor said that he could if the price was right. Things got ugly from there till the FBI stepped in.

Also, Tony "Jail-bird" Rizko (sp??) was involved in both the governor’s and Obama's campaigns.

I think he (Obama) will pull a "Clinton"* and skate free and let everyone else take the fall.

yeah our lovely state has screwed up again. we cant get a decent governor in there. he ran the state from chicago and has this state in so much debt its retarded. luckily i live far enough south where they consider us a different state

 

That's what I read too, just wondered if I missed something.

So, Obama made a recommendation but, without cash, appointments, gifts, etc..
and the Governor said BLANK him.

So this thread is in the vein as......
"he sat on the pew for twenty years..."
and
"he served on the same Board with an unrepentant terrorist..."

Didn't say it was necessarily part of the scandal with the Governor, although who knows, it may end up being related. But a deal between Rezko and Obama is also being looked at.

 

I already looked at it before I voted for him.
He paid retail price all the way.
He can't control who donates but, did not keep the campaign contributions.
He DID NOT NEED Rezko's puny contributions.

There was nothing there, that's why he's President.
Rezko serves but one purpose, to provide his detractors with whispers and inuendo.
Sad really.
There will be plenty of true oppurtunities for detractors to detract after Jan 20.
Just be patient.

It is also undisclosed if money, goods or favors ever traded hands. I would expect that they would have or at least a price was set and agreed to before the FBI made the arrest.

This brings up what is one of my biggest problems with Obama (and the Chicago/Illinois political machine). He has received a lot of undisclosed money. People are going to want this money back in some form or another. How many appointments are going to be paybacks? I expect that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

 

As far as politics go maybe. Otherwise its a great state, but yes its politics do suck. Ryan also did alot of good in my home town, but that also happens to be his home town :o

I agree Chicago politics is corrupt but, you can't lay that at Obamas feet.
He was born in Kenya for cryin out loud!
