Let them sink or float, the little 3…
For the life of me I can not understand why “our” government is even entertaining the thought of bailing out the little 3 auto industries, Ford, GM, and Chrysler. I call them the little 3 for a big reason they haven’t been the big 3 for quite some time…
They have been getting beat and beat bad. Why, because the other successful automobile industries “get it”…
The little 3 suffer from two major issues. First they have arrogant and extremely under performing management that lack any real and logical understanding of “business” and how to run a successful business like the other successful automobile industries.
Second, they have arrogant and extremely under performing employees who are over paid for a job any walking, talking, breathing human being could do as well, if not better. I have said it before and I will say it again, an assembly line worker takes absolutely NO skill what so ever, anybody can do it, its simple, takes no education, no special training. It’s a job that does not deserve more then minimum wage. Now a machinist, welder, etc is a different story those are actual skilled labor but the majority of workers in any automobile factory are assembly workers, a minimum wage job at best…
So what happens when you put those two together? A failing company doomed to failure.
I say let them go, throw then out in the ocean and see who floats. I don’t for a minute believe if one or all of them fail it will serious have any long term affects on the economy. The reason being is what ever voids are left behind will be filled by the other successful auto industries that have successful management and employees eager to work to make a solid quality product for a fair price…
Don’t by into the hype about 3 million people being unemployed if these 3 failing little business go under. No big deal just those living in Detroit will be unemployed, so what, there’s always Wal-Mart and McDonalds these people can work at…
There should be no further bail outs of ANY business and for God sakes, the ones that have been bailed out should have had all there management teams sent packing. If you go to Washington with your hand out you should get spanked and FIRED for being a moron in the first place to run your business into the ground.
AGI, Citi, Ford, GM, Chrysler, all losers and all deserve to go under if they can’t make it on their own. At least Ford don’t seem to need the money but I guess they figured what the hell everyone else making billions is getting some cash in hand so why not. For that I think the Ford CEO deserves to be FIRED for being a moron as well as his other two idiot buddies.
So, as we become unemployed and miss a few truck payments do you think Ford will buy ”You’ll have to wait for your payment while I go line up for my bailout” or how about ”Don’t worry about the payment for a while I just help bail you out, where’s your heart pal, you can let me slid for the next 6 months or so, no?”

No, no Mustang, traded it in about a year ago for my 2007 F150 XLT Supercrew. Really love the truck...

What I don't get with all this bail-out bs is this:
When things are good and they are making money hand over fist, everyone gets a bigger house, a fatter bank account, and a faster car, but when things are bad, they have hat in hand.

"Joe's" Hardware store doesn't get a bail-out when Wal-mart comes to town and shuts him down, because this is letting the market sort out everything through natural selection.
This is a double standard isn't it?
I don't recall any University teaching "Bail-out 101" in their Economics program. Maybe this will be a new chapter that gets added to the curriculum.

I am extremely offended by this comment, I was a rated painter and, my friend whether or not you wish to except it, it was a highly skilled position. my job began on the "line" painting under the hood, door opening panels and corners of the box. The last 4 years of my career, I was spot repair, meaning when some jerk off hit a fender with an air tool I fixed the paint....It takes finesse, patients and yes, the dreaded skill that none of us had... I saw many people come through the spray booths who just "couldn't paint".even after weeks of training. I was factory trained by Dupont in tinting, shading and blending not to mention I had one of the finest metal men in the business to rub out the dings, which he learned the day after high school graduation
. Get the finest body shop you can find to sand a 4" spot on your fender in an alpha area{ area most visible standing, looking at truck between belt molding and character line} to bare steel, and paint it, we are talking 7-10 mils of material to fill in .........I did it on a daily basis and many would never know...You are however right , some jobs are fool proof, tools set to proper torque, color coded fasteners, etc........but, do it everday, all day long.....the same spindle nut, same seat belt, same gas tank....It was mentally punishing. You can put down management all you want but, leave the working man who had nothing to do with business decisions out of it, please . Minimum wage.......you will get a minimum wage product. I dedicated a large portion of my life to these damn trucks, to see them going down the road was a feeling I can't explain , pride X 10000. You want to rag on the business decision side of it, fine, lord knows I have and still do but to call us under performing? The line moves man, you don't have a choice but to perform because the next guy down the line is gonna be pissed because he can't do his job because you didn't do yours. You think you guys bitch about things that go wrong with these trucks now, wait until they are being built in Mexico by for real minimum wage and see what happens. Im not attacking you , however I feel like you are attacking me. As far as your job loss statement, at our plant alone 3100 people directly employed by ford lost their job, indirectly it shut down a plant of 900 that made instrument panels, another plant approx 700 that made seats, a trucking company of 300 that ran material, another trucking company laid off 300 drivers that delivered trucks locally { within 5 hours } all in all just this plant closing cost over 10,000 jobs, well paying jobs. Im going to get off my soap box now and I would hope you would do the same or at least have some first hand knowledge on what you are talking about, there is alot more to it than just what fox news tells you.......By the way, how much time on the assembly line did you have? And what plant was that?

Let 'em crash and burn, and pick themselves back up. A loan from the government is just a band-aid for a chainsaw wound. They got themselves into this mess, they can get themselves out of it. It'll be a long and hard road, and a lot of people are gonna lose their jobs over it, but thus is life. In the end, they'll all be stronger and better than they ever were.

I have been reading up on the "job bank" thing. Man, what a sweet deal that is. No wonder all the union people are pissing and moaning about losing that - potentially. How is laying someone off and then paying them 95% of their wage saving anything. I'm with Quintin, let them go up in flames, chit can everyone (including management) and then rebuild with good leadership and wages that a company and our economy can live with.
