YOUR F-150..HAS IT HAD PROBLEMS ???
I just passed 40,000 miles with no problems. Well, I had one "problem". I had a clunk that would sometimes occur when starting, stopping or turning. It could be heard and also felt. I cringed at the idea of bringing MY truck to a dealer and letting a stranger touch it, but figured I better while it's still under warranty. I gave things a quick look and found the problem! There was a bottle of Gatorade under the seat that was rolling around and hitting the driver's side seat mount. I relocated the bottle and the clunk vanished and never returned.
NowImScaredToBuy: Remember, when you read about problems here, that most people don't regularly report that they don't have problems. It would get kinda boring if everybody logged on and posted a message that said, "Drove to work today, no problems". As somone mentioned, there are 3260 people here and only a tiny percentage have had problems.

I have the drivers side mirror shake, but that is the ONLY problem after more than 500 highway miles on my new truck (that's 500, not 5,000, not 50,000, not 500,000). The shake is not bad, but it is a common problem. Other than that, the truck is as it should be for being less than two weeks old.

Regardless of what others that own other brands tell you, all the makes have their problems. We just happen to be man enough to admit to it and find out from each other what it take to fix them. Of course not all are simple fixes but what ever is simple. Personally I have a 97 SC, 4.6, auto with 70,000 on that I bought used. It hasn't given me any trouble and it never gave the original owners any trouble. I know them personally and when I found out they were going to trade it in I ran down to the dealership and told them I wanted it the minute it hit the lot. Like anything else it's a peice of machinery and will have problems so don't let that scare you I truely believe that there isn't a better truck on the market. And with A place like this to come for info.........what else can I tell you!

Had a 97 lariat supercab 4X4 5.4, bought new and traded with 35,000 miles for a 99 supercab 4x4 lariat V10.
No major problems with either veh. The 97 had some minor rust at the bottem of the doors( I live in Wisconsin/they use a lot of salt on the roads, and I didn't rustproof). The dealer fixed under warranty. I'm trading the 99 for a 2000 f150 supercab 4x4 lariat(the superduty is a little to big,the ride on the f150 is much better.) My wife has a 98 Navigator 4x4 5.4 and she loves it. We had 1 minor problem with a coil going out that the dealer fixed easily. The only other problem we had was when my wife was backing out the drive and a tree jumped out and took out the rear quarter panel, but that was not covered under warranty. Never had any piston slap on either of the 5.4 motors. Have 34,000 on the Nav. What can I say.....I like Ford Trucks. To bad they don't make a 4x4 lightning!!!!!
