Cellphones
I use Nextel. That Direct connect feature comes in real handy. Its just like a walkie talkie. Caller Id, Voice mail, and pager.
I have no idea how much $$$ though. Work pays for it.

my cell phone is Alltel and it's the low end pkg like what 54regcab was talking about.
My husband on the other hand has 2 cell phones and a pager. One phone is permanatly mounted in his truck. One he carries and is also a 2-way radio and we can't find the pager. I still have trouble getting in touch with him. About a week ago, he was working on a big CAT and took his phone off his belt to get under the tractor. Laid the phone up on the bucket and promtly forgot about it. Later he gets up in the cab and starts it up and starts testing everything. Yep, he didn't even hear the crunch sound. The Radio was never the less, FLAT!! Another thing he does is program #'s in that he calls a lot, like me!!! And sometimes when he's crawling under these machines, he will hit the button and call. Only he doesn't know he's called and I can't get him to hang up the phone. I've heard him talk to people in the lot and listened to a lot of running CAT's. Very boreing!!!
Cell phone are necessory in today's world but sometimes I think they are taking over. Excuse me, my cell phone is ringing.....

After much hesitation - and a lot of investigation, I selected AT&T One Rate plan because it covers the entire country plus parts of Canada and Mexico.
I needed a phone that would work anywhere and everywhere without roaming changes. Their flat rate plans offer 300, 600, 1000 or 1400 minutes per month with NO roaming and NO long distance.
There are many competitors with lower (local) rates. Once you start traveling, I don't think you can find a better plan than AT&T One Rate (yes - I do own ATT stock
)
For REALLY good comparisons of phone rates/plans try: http://www.point.com/ . They offer side-by-side comparisons of different plans. Pick the features that are important to you.
BTW - point.com is NOT an AT&T site. It shows over 7000 different programs offered by every company doing business in the U.S. It shows plans offered in/near your zip code. Very handy when trying to decide what to buy.
