My truck is LATE!!!!!
My truck too is behind schedule. I was originally told 10/11/99 - eight weeks. Well, I had to call the dealer when that date came and went, I called about five times and talked to two different people before they would call me back once. They were supposed to call me today with an update....and didn't. My truck is coming from Virginia also I think. I'll be sure to check it over good. Hopefully they have cured the "piston slap" and "door cracks" by now, I guess that would make the wait more tolerable.

I called the dealer again today, and they said that that the manager had called them back and said that they are going to try to get the vehicles out by the end of this month which is about another week I think, I will believe that when I see it. I thought Norfolk was the only plant that was having delays, Reavis, are they deducting any money for your truck being late, I got a $500 dollar reduction, for my truck being late. I ordered mine on August 4th, and it was released to the convoy carrier on the 27th of August, but I still don't have it.
Funny you should ask about a 'pain & suffering' discount. I just got off the phone and left a message with my dealer, when he calls me back, I'll be asking him that same question. I guess the rail transport problem is nationwide. Your truck is in Norfolk, VA and mine's in Kansas City, MO. My local dealer was bellyachin' that all his 2000 Rangers were in KC too, he didn't have one on his lot.
I'll ask for a delivery update too. The worst-case delivery date given me was the first week of December. That ain't gonna happen!

It's doubly frustrating to wait because I ordered it back on August 28th. And just knowing it's done and sittin' in some theme park lot is makin' me crazy. I was at a local dealership this weekend and found one on their lot that was really close to what I ordered. I couldn't arm-wrestle the sales guy down to what I'm payin' for mine, otherwise I'd have bought THAT one and taken it home.
Hey, I noticed in your bio you're from Stevie. I spent two weeks this July in the Bitterroot at Hamilton and Darby. What a great place! I'd really consider retiring there someday.

I ordered mine (See signature) on 9/13, was first told delivery on 10/25, then 10/30. Now "They Say" 11/3. I heard 3 different reasons why transportation is a problem. 1 said the trucks don't come by rail, 1 said they accidently put my special order in with the rest of the pack, the manager told me the flooding in North Carolina was causing the delays. All BS I think. If UPS can keep up with a $5.00 package at every stop, why can't Ford keep up with a $25k truck. I am got a loaner (ranger) from the dealer on 10/25 untill it arrives.

I called the VOPC today, and they said that my truck is still in Norfolk, but they did get 1200 vehicles moved out last week, they did have 7200 there and now they are down to 6000. Maybe mine is in the next batch that is going out. The trucks do go by train I think, because on another occassion, when I was talking to one of the representatives at the VOPC, they said that my truck would be shipped directly to the dealer by truck, and not to Winston Salem by train, since it was so late. Somebody really layed down on the job for them to get this far behind.

One of the many reasons/excuses I've heard for rail transport delays is that The Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroads merged, and in the ensuing confusion, did not schedule or 'reserve' enough auto transport cars for Ford. I dunno. It could be Ford trying to pass the buck. My dealer, much to his credit, has been keeping me up to date on my truck, although his motivation may be that I mentioned I almost bought one off somebody else's lot.
Supposedly, it has been shipped to a 'mixing' center (huh?) and will be rail shipped to Phoenix and then trucked to a local dealer in 3 weeks... we'll see.
Back in September, there was a fire in a Ford engine plant in Cleveland, OH., which slowed down truck production nationwide. My dealer back then said that my engine had already been built and shipped to KC Assembly so that's not a contributing factor in it's lateness.
I've already rescheduled a camping trip with my sons and may have to cancel a hunting trip if it doesn't show up soon.

Well, I still don't have a truck, Norfolk plant has to Monday to keep thier promise to get the trufk here by the end of this month. I was over at the dealer the other day, and looked in some of the 2000's that came from Norfolk plant and they have build dates of 9/99, 9/99, and 10/99, and they are on the lot and I ordered my truck back in August and don't have it yet. I called the VOPC same story still at Norfolk waiting to be shipped and then when I asked why the dealer had trucks on his lot from that plant that were built this month he said that the way there are shipped is that the last ones out of the plant are the first ones to be shipped, so in other words my truck keeps getting pushed back. What's up with that $#@!? That is a messed up system if you ask me. The only thing that is keeping me hanging on, is that I bleed FORD blue, and the A-plan, if not for that I would be riding in my second choice which is a Dodge Ram. This kind of stuff really makes me angry.

Dang... Double-Dang... Still no truck. Still in KC at a THEME PARK. Still no delivery date other than '1st week of December' Plenty of 2000's on the local lot though. Hmmmm... I smell weasels.
Reavis: I think I saw your truck! I was riding up the Mamba (a 200' tall coaster) and noticed a ton af F150's sit in the lot of the water park next door.
Ford can't be making money if they are just sittin there. Hopefully you'll get your soon.
P.S. Don't know what was more exciting, going 75mph down a 200' drop-off or seeing all those F-150's in one place
