No one will argue your driving skills, but go back and read your statement which caused me to reply. You are the one making excuses as to why speed doesn't increase your chance of getting injured, or injuring others, or how its not the only factor.

don't you get it? its the other people who don't expect you to come flying by, or, those people who just don't notice you period and cut you off. No one argues that you are a great driver, for all we know, you could be a formula one driver and your lightning could be the best handling machine ever made.....thats not the point.

I really liked your analogy of doing 10 mph faster and they wouldn't have been in that spot in time...so now instead of doing 20 over the speed limit and hit the woman with the kids, the driver would be doing 30 over...what kind of irrational thinking causes you do use that as a reason why speeding didn't cause that accident? Speeding caused that accident. Had the driver been driving the normal speed limit, the woman would have still gone out into the intersection, but the other driver would not have hit her. What part of that has nothing to do with speeding?

actually you are right, I think I will use that excuse in front of a judge if I ever get into ANY accident regardless of who is at fault, that way, I can assure myself no responsibility for my actions.

"Your honor, that fact that I was speeding was not the reason I broadsided that woman and her kids, it was the fact that unfortunately for her, that morning she had stopped for a doughnut and thus, setting in motion a causal effect of the time/space continum which put her at that single place and time, and unfortunately, in front of me...really, I'm not to blame"

Thanks!

Forget the Radar Detectors, get a CB. They are much more reliable.

I just joined this sight the other night and was reading a thread about tickets and was surprised how everyone was very respectfull about law enforcement and posted a reply how respectful it was, then i read this one with DUSTOFF calling Law Enforcement Officers Dumb ***'s. I think he is showing who is the dumb *** really is or he is just an immature juvenile.

How far back did you have to go to dig up this thread? It is two and a half years old.

I think I read every 5mph over 60 is like paying 10 cents more for gas per gallon.

In order for an officer to laser you, the officer has to be stopped, not moving?? Am I right??

i had a radar detector, Cb radio and all that stuff in my jeep wrangler.

the cop got me on a turn, i didnt see him, so i hit the brakes before he turned the bend to get me, and he ended up behind me, and saw me slam the brakes...

he got me for 70 in a 55... pulled me over, saw the R/D and laughed, "guess that didnt help you today did it?"
he also asked what the Cb was, and if i used it to talk to truckers. ( i do to listen for where they hide)
I was as nice as possible, and all i got was a "obstruction of view" ticket for 130.00 ... i had taken the R/D down and threw it in the back seat after he came to get my license, but he didnt care... i must have seemed like some little punk *** kid that tried everything to bypass getting caught speeding. I did... and got caught...

Now that i have my f-150, i all i have is the gryphon to blink at me when i go over 70... the R/D is useless when you're alone, and if you're not alone, then stick to the middle of the pack, they usually pick off the front or rear, never the middle...

i know this thread is old, but i'm gonna revive it once again just to say how pissed off i am at my radar detector. it never made a noise, but as soon as the cop walks up to my door and i roll down the window, it goes absolutely nuts! i know its not illegal or anything, but it was like the damn thing was telling the cop "hey this kid speeds all the time. write him up"
