How much time are you going to save? It's not cold out right now. The snow is slushy. You may save 30 seconds to a minute, but at an expense. I guess if money is no object, then sure. If you want to use it at these temps I'd say plug it in a couple of hours before you need it. Just sayin'.

I'm not a tree hugger at all. I just spend the 5-10 mins warming up my truck on the extra cold mornings like everybody else. And it's not necesarily for the reasons of being comfortable. Often it's to get all the windows clear.

Well rather let my truck idle for that 5-10 minutes, wasting gas and building up carbon, I'd rather unplug my extension cord, fire up, and drive off. . .

I'm sure JBMX is refering to when it's actually cold out. In these temps I start it up a let the idle come back down. Then I go. That takes about 30 seconds. Obviuosly I don't pound on it right away.

camaro 2 things
1) thats smart IMO, no one likes freezing there *** off in their trucks on a cold morning, i remember how slow my old f150 and my moms expedition would heat up
2) thank you! your pumping a few extra pennies (which isn't alot but more than last5oh) into the economy!

The man post pictures of the first snow becuase he is glad to see some white stuff and members on here give him a hard time about having his block heater plugged up. People need to mind there on business if you dont want to commment on the snow then dont comment at all.

He didnt ask anyone on here if running the block heater was a good idea. Its no sweat off anyones back but his if he runs it all the time or never. He could run it during the month of August if he wanted to. Give the man a break.

Or you could just drive off...

My truck only warms up long enough to scrape the ice or brush the snow off the windows and then I go. If there is nothing on the windows I just leave.
Todays engines do not need warm up time. The driver might need it but the engine doesn't. :santa:
