Post Discussion

First, check out this page:

http://www.netwurx.net/~2lbgil/ford.html

I sent him an e-mail basically stating that most of the things he cites could have been discovered during a test drive, and he could have walked away without buying the truck.

-------

His response:

Opinions have been running 10-1 against yours. I did not drive the
vehicle prior to leasing....should I after the results I had with the
95?, which I admit I should have purchased. The buyer has to have some
faith in the company or they would not think about buying their product.
For your information I lease all of my trucks..excuse me the 98 isn't a
truck. A truck is a working vehicle not a auto with a box on the back.
Most buyers these days do not use a truck for the purpose it was
designed for. Can I guess that you sell Ford's?
My page on this Ford? was put on the Internet to make a point and
generate discussion on "Did Ford blow it with the F-150"?

Of course you should test drive the vehicle first. I don't care if I've
been buying fords for 20 years, I would still test drive each one. You
expect the car maker to read your mind, and keep/add options that appeal to
you? Of course not. Vehicles are changed every year. It was your own
ignorance that caused you to get stuck with a truck you didn't like. If you
had taken an extra hour to check out the vehicle first, you could be driving
a vehicle that DOES fit your needs instead of the one you have.

The majority of your complaints are "cosmetic" things. If you want a truck
for "the purpose it was designed for", then those nicities shouldn't matter
to you.

> Can I guess that you sell Ford's?

No, I do not sell Fords. I have only owned Honda vehicles until my latest
purchase, a 1999 F-150. I sent the e-mail to you because you have no right
to complain about the vehicle, when you put yourself in this situation. A
test drive could have easily told you everything you liked/didn't like about
the vehicle.

If they did blow it, and you had taken the time to do some research and a
test drive, you could have switched to a Chevy or Dodge and been happy.

Oh well. I just think it's humorous, and good reading, so I posted it.

Here is my reply to his page, I really hope I get a response.

Dear Sir,

While I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, I don't agree with yours. From what I can see, you ordered or purchased a truck for the sole purpose of towing a boat, didn't it occur to you that if you are going to tow something you might want to purchase a truck with the biggest engine and towing package available? Obviously your "coveted" 95 F150 had the 5.8L engine in it, yet you didn't think about how you would be using this truck and make choices from there? As for the center console, if I am not mistaken (and you can bet I am not), there is a locking system on the console that prevents it from "flipping backwards". I personally have put large amounts of pressure on my center console with no ill effects what so ever.

You do have one legitimate grip about the V8's in the newer Ford trucks, the gas mileage does and I quote you on this "SUCK". I personally have invested a large amount of time in to tracking fuel mileage on my truck and concur with you on this single point.

As for you other points, they seem to be primarily problems that you should have found on a test drive. I assume you did test drive you vehicle before purchasing it. I can't imagine a person with obvious experience in trucks not taking the few minutes it would have taken to get a feel for the vehicle and the power of the engine. I really hope you didn't rely on a sales person to tell you this was the vehicle for you.

I would imagine you will simply discard this message and not find it worth a reply since it is obvious you are so staunchly against the new style F150's. If you don't, please reply back, I am interested in the process you went through when evaluating your vehicle.

Randy

If you're going to get on people about their spelling and grammar (not to mention syntax and composition), you are going to have no problem keeping very busy. Having said that, however, this guy really does need some fresh glue.

Everyone makes occasional mistakes. You can tell when people really just don't know how to compose sentences.

Well I read what he said, he's an idiot. Really don't understand people like that. Kind of humorous, but oh well, he's a flake, I'll leave it at that.

I've never had any problems with my console. It locks in the up or down position. I hear that on the 97's it didn't lock, which would be a problem.

I found that guy's site quite a while ago and posted to him my solution for the fliping console. I keep the middle seatbelt straped over it. Works for me and my 5 year old can scoot between the seats without dumping my drink. Anyway's he never responded.

This ai my reply to his "Idiot"
{Snip}From: XXXXXXXXXXXXX (dogcam) Date: Fri, Aug 13, 1999, 11:24am To: 2lbgil@netwurx.net Subject: Stupid, Stupid,Stupid
Anyone who would lease a car or truck, and never test drive it, is the above title.
I hope, since you went through Ford credit that your payments are huge, which i believe they are. your pic of the truck shows you have running board on this truck, if you put them on a leased vehicle your again the above Subject title. If you leased this truck with the running boards already on it, i really know Ford credit is eating your wallet and again you apply to the above subject title.
Live and learn, you want to tow something, get the correct motor and gear ratio........STUPID!
I've got a good idea, when you pay off that huge loan, buy a Jap "Rice Burner"
That's all...10-4 {Snip}

I hope he doesn't reply, due to his lack of sense........Dogcam
