Texas Stadium
Anyone know how high the crown of the field is at Texas Stadium? We had a discussion about it at work, and I can't find this info on the web for the life of me.
If you have a pic illustrating the height of the crown, that would be great also.

A few years back, I was watching a Cowboy's game and they kept talking about the crown. Then, they switched camera views to illustrate. The camera view was at crown level, looking across the field. You couldn't see the ref's legs on the far side of the field, only his torso.
Could've just been the beer, though
i'v been on that field many times when i lived in Dallas. 18" seems tobe less than what it apears to be. i'm going to say about 22 to 24". thats my guess. and thats from sideline to sideline. but from inzone to inzone, its hard to say.

The crown has changed over the years with the advancemnt of "real grass" which drains differently than turf or grass.
When it was turf (Astro Turf) it was almost 3 feet. If you stood on the sidelines you would only seen the waist level of the other team. This was difficult for QB's to get used to b/c they often over threw receivers in the "flats".
When the Cowboys went to "Real Grass" (6 years ago) which is the new artificial turf they leveled out the field some b/c they improved drainage at the same time and reduced the crown.
Currently it is around 24 inches. There is no crown endzone to endzone, it is only sideline to sideline.
I am on the field often for work and for games but its not much more than any other outdoor field in the NFL now.
The new stadium will only have a 12" crown.
EDIT: Here is a photo of my brother and Roy Williams (not the receiver
) you can clearly see the crown on the field. I dn't have any digital photos of years past but it was much more pronounced. I had thought it was 8 years ago but had to call my brother to check, it was 6 years when they went to "Real Grass"
