Most fear you've ever felt?
Late April of this year I was on a spearfishing trip with some friends. We like to bluewater spear mostly. So we are out about 15 miles when we spot a nice pallet floating. Plenty of baitfish around it so we decide to give it a shot. I had brought along a new girlfriend and all of us were drinking a few beers so my machoism was at it's peak so I put my gear on quick and jumped in. I was floating around waiting for something good to show up. My buddies say they are gonna pull away a little "so not to scare anything off" yea right they just kept pulling away and smiling. At this point I realize they got me and I'm just wondering how far they're gonna take this. Well they took it far, they left! So I just looked down and all I see is blue going to black and the light rays streaming in to the depth. I'd seen it a hundred times but not with the boat out of sight. At that moment I felt fear like no other time in my life. It was only 5 minutes but it felt like an hour. The Gulfstream runs at about 3-5 knots past West Palm and that far out y'aint swimmin' home. My friends came back (I was thankful we're used to finding things on the water). The worst though was that I couldn't show my fear 'cause of the girl. But they'll pay, I won't forget that one.

Doing a quarter mile pass in the passenger seat of a nitrous injected & blown 427 Chevy Vega. It only lasted around 9 seconds, but it was the only time I ever pissed in my pants (diaper years not withstanding).
Take care,

I bought a duplex in May of this year in a bad bad neighborhood which does not scare me but they are building a school adjacent to it so it was worth the aggravation until it is cleaned up. One tenant is an older black lady who gets frequent visits from her sons. The local Sheriff's task force informed me that they were some of the highest profile drug dealers in this town and one of the sons was going to a sentencing hearing (just two days ago Oct. 7). For about the last few months, I had been in various arguments with the sons about selling drugs and other problems. One of the sons who is about 6'8" and 285lbs. (a little bigger than I can handle) hates white people and had no problem telling me that along with demanding that I repair things that they broke (broken windows, etc. I consider tenants resposibility). This guy ended up following me around for about a week and would show up at my other properties and start another heated debate. I was telling everyone including his mother he was a drug dealer and he was pissed off. About three weeks ago he and his brothers went nuts and decided they were gonna shake me up a little and cornered me and went psychotic screaming and yelling in thier mothers house when I was doing a legit repair. I also knew he had a record with four armed robbery charges so I was scared to death and did not know what to expect. I ended up telling him "Jimmy, why the hell do you sell drugs man? You are too smart for that! Why don't you just stop it and do something with your life!" Then I told him a story about the best boss I ever had was a black man (true story). I don't know why but he started crying and left and told his two brothers to never bother me again. It was like something out of the movies.
I think that guy Jimmy would do things differently if he could do it all over.
He was sentenced to 5 years 9 months and the last few weeks I saw him he never gave me any grief nor did his brothers. He would just wave and drive by. I now know that a high profile drug dealer means basically a smart drug dealer. Most of them are dumb as a box of rocks and just run when they see you.
Sorry about the long post.

O.K. Tina has been waiting a long time for this story, (sever booted me during email) so I'll try it again.
My other job is: I am a contractor for delivery and pretty much get to choose when/if I work. I give the guys that work for me any night they want off, (because they are reliable and we get no paid vacations) even if I have to do it myself, so this night I am working. I have this "space" theory: farther then 10 feet from the Truck and I lock it. I wear my keys around my neck along with this electronic data transfer device that I need for recording the deliveries.
I get to my second stop and I am at the end of my space, when this guy pops up and asks me for some tape. I said "I don't have any tape." He asked would I get him some. I said "NO!" I get to my third stop, after making a mental note to lock the truck even closer than 10'. This is a 24hr Amoco and I ask the manager (Dennis) if he has seen this joker around. He says no, and I go back out to get some money to pay for some candy that I had. I get halfway to my truck and this joker comes running up and said "I have a gun and your going to get me some tape." (with his hands in his pockets pointing it at me) I didn't want to "lose it", so I said (in a firm, disgusted voice) "Look, I don't have any *******ing tape, so I guess your going to have to shoot me then." (throwing my hands up) He pulls out one hand with the other on pointing at me and grabs the door handle to my Truck. I quickly said, "you don't want to do that, I got something in there for people like you." He finds out it's locked and turns to me and we both look at the keys I'm wearing. I say "all I have is this piece candy, (holding it out) you want it?" (admititly a stupid distraction) He says "no, is that all you have?" I say "yeah, but I already ate a piece." He then acts tough again and says "well your gonna go in there and get me some tape." I say "You go get it." He then says "I can't, I don't have any money." I said "look, just go in there, and maybe if your nice, that guy will let you barrow some." He looks at the guy through the glass door and says "can I still have that candy?" I say "sure." I gave him the candy and then quickly went inside the store, make gestures at Dennis and clue him in. I tell him I'll take care of that matter later. He knows when the creeps are out I don't want to be seen spending any money. I left and then thought, now he's in there with Dennis. So I tried calling. No answer. I drove back by and things looked ok from the road, so I finished my job and caught up with Dennis later: Dennis stays in the bullet proof cubicle when ever there is someone in the store and as a result of the guy waiting for him to come out, Dennis calls the police, and they carted him off just like on cops!
I wasn't scared until later and it's funny I never buy candy, only that night, I wanted some. And guess what!? I have penty of tape in my Truck including three colors of duct tape! Hey, don't leave home with out it! Or candy!

I would have to say..Somalia, 1993, assigned to the 45th Medical Company (air ambulance)...running to a bunker with heavy machine gun fire/tracers and mortars going off 75-100 meters from me. Rounds were coming in and going out. Several RPGs (rocket propelled grenades) exploded behind us on the main runway...I did notice that they glow orange and wobble through the air as they head towards you.
All I had was a 9mm pistol...and thought for sure they were coming in the compound.
Scared the hell out of me.
All was well once the AH-1 Cobra gun ships and scout OH-58s came on station and shot the heck out of them (at least the area where they were firing from).
I hate it when people you are trying to help simply want to KILL you....thanks BILL!
