A buddy of mine (Lou) had his truck stolen on Wed Sep. 29 in Plano Texas (North Dallas). If anyone sees a White 97 Roush F150 Supercab tolling aroud DFW please give a call to the Plano Police department. It's filed under the case #99-83115. I will try to get his plate number and post it up as well as any other things to help pick out his truck.

Mumbly: How did they get the truck?? Break glass, tow it, hot wire, find extra key somewhere??? Was there anything your friend could have done to have avoided this?? When I first got my truck, I was living in DC (crime capital) We went to one of the museums and I parked in a very nice location (I thought) Whatever we went to see was closed and we got back to the truck rather quick only to find a bunch of theives hooking up a ragged looking tow truck to my truck!!! I had to back up from them to get away and thank god I had my 6'4" husband with me or I think they would have took the truck anyways. Thives now-a-days are brazen. Let us know what the outcome is. If your friend gets his truck back (slim chance) or what insurence does to reimburse him.

They had a ring here in SA awhile back..they where stealing them and taking them to Mexico....Thinking about getting lojack myself...

No word as of yet. I did get a some info about the truck though. Lic# is TX. XC4228. The only mark on it is a baseball size crumpled area on the right end of the bottom of the bumper.

A friend of mine had his truck stolen. The insurance company said they would not pay for it until it had been missing 31 days. On day 30, the police found it abandoned and totally trashed. They gave him $12K to "clean it up". It had apparently been submerged underwater as there was mold and mildew all through the inside and it smelled like rotten fish. Miraculously, it still ran, although very rough.

"GUESS WHAT????? four guys are in jail!!! picked up last night. Truck has no tape or cd or spare. Going to pick it up shortly at the pound. Will keep you posted. Thanks again for all your help. Hope the wheels are on it. Latter, Louie"

That's great that your buddy Lou got his truck back, missing only those few things!

I've heard that there's little one can do to prevent a pro from stealing a vehicle. Steering wheel locks, alarms, etc. don't deter the pro and some of them are so good, they don't even slow the crook down. Sounds like in your friend's case, his ride was swiped by a bunch of joy riders, possibly teenagers. A "Club" may have slowed them down or made them look for a different truck...who knows?

But I'm also thinking Lojack lately...

 

I had the Lojack installed the day I bought my baby. They may get it, but I'm gonna get them later on! Got a 15% discount from my insurance company for having it installed too.
