Exclamation Lucent modem users please read !

Many modems use the Lucent chipset and are sold under many different brand names.
You can download the lastest firmware and make your internet connection faster.
It took me from 28k to 41333-45333.
Well worth the 5 minute download.
All drivers are in automatic programs so it is self configuring.
I even put a program on a 3.5" flopply for backup.
I had to use it one when my computer crashed.
Wow a lot easier than trying to manually configure drivers and settings.
Oh the URL www.808hi.com/56k/x2-lucent.htm#firmware
The page loads a little slow but is worht the wait.

Thanks 54regcab! I got my fastest speed after installing the new driver. Yahoo!

Be carefull with the new driver though. The program to install it deletes your old modem and sets up a new one. This was a problem with mine since Windows "plug and pray" doesn't seem to work on my PC.

If you haven't had any problems before when setting up your LT modem this shouldn't cause any. If you have and couldn't resolve them yourself you may want to think twice.

The new driver seems to work hot and cold with my modem. It either gets 37,000 or 45,000+. Before it only hovered between. Feast or famine - I'll keep trying.

No matter what it is, I'm always trying to tweak out more power

54regcab,

What version did you install? I cant think of the other site (its on the puter at home) but there is another webpage that updates monthly with the lastest version as well as archived versions of the drivers.

Also, to get the latest software on your computer go to
www.updates.com
. This site does a search on your computer, takes about 5 min and will offer you the latest versions of the software installed. Goodluck!

Exclamation

Actually I had problems getting plug and pray to work.
I ran the program that I prevoisly downloaded and it installed my new modem right away with no hassle.
I am running 5.54 version.
