Woo Hoo! Time for Texas to Secede...

So, because we are entering a recession, its time for a Texas Secession...

Q: Doesn’t the Texas Constitution reserve the right of Texas to secede?
A: No such provision is found in the current Texas Constitution[1](adopted in 1876) or the terms of annexation.[2] However, it does state (in Article 1, Section 1) that “Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States...” (note that it does not state “...subject to the President of the United States...” or “...subject to the Congress of the United States...” or “...subject to the rest of the United States...”)
Likewise, each of the united States is “united” with the others explicitly on the principle that “governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed” and “whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [i.e., protecting life, liberty, and property], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government” and “when a long train of abuses and usurpations...evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

Can kansas join? It would basically be adding a county to Texas.

Hell yeah ya can! Oklahoma is a red state also...

We will form a new nation I call it Texahomansas, or Kanahomexes. Nah, screw Oklahoma! Adding them makes the new country sound gay

I think just texas should secede. We have the right, we should use it. And then elect a true american and a maverick to control our country. No barack. What kind of name is barack anyways.

Just to add fuel to the fire, any State or territory must ask for Statehood, get permission from the US Gov't, and the applying citizens must vote for ratification of Statehood. Texas never did any of those things. Anybody ever been to McMullen County? It says on the county line "Entering the free State of McMullen". They firmly believe in it over there. Personally, I'm for a free Texas Nation but in reality- it'll never happen.

Ok, so, in accordance with our state constitution, we can secede immediately if we so choose... is it possible to form a union of states so far away from each other? As much ribbing as we Alaskans give Texans for being such a small state, I think we can stand together on this one.

I'm REALLY glad that I have a place off the grid with thousands of rounds of ammunition and supplies for years in Alaska. I have a feeling I might need them soon,

GO WOLVERINES!!!!!!!
