The Newfie

A Catholic Priest, an Indian Doctor, a rich Chinese Businessman and a Newfie
were waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers
in front of them.

The Newfie fumed, 'What's with those guys? We must have been
waiting for fifteen minutes!'

The Indian Doctor chimed in, 'I don't know, but I've never seen such poor golf!'

The Chinese Businessman called out 'Move it, time is money'

The Catholic Priest said, 'Here comes George the greens keeper.
Let's have a word with him.'

'Hello, George!',said the Catholic Priest, 'What's wrong with That
group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?'

George the greens keeper replied, 'Oh, yes. That's a group of blindfire fighters.
They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free anytime.'

The group fell silent for a moment.

The Catholic Priest said, 'That's so sad. I think I will say a special
prayer for them tonight.'

The Indian Doctor said, 'Good idea. I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist colleague
and see if there's anything he can do forthem.'

The Chinese Businessman replied, 'I think I'll donate $50,000 to the fire-fighters
in honour of these brave souls'

The Newfie said, 'Why the fack can't they play at night?'

Are they French Canadians, they are probably the rudest people I have ever met.

No, they're not French. New Brunswick is officially bilingual though, as is Ontario.

I have some Newfie friends, and I've met a lot as well. For the most part, anyone from the east coast is friendly, and that's the reputation they carry as well.

Quebec? Well that's a different story, and I was born there

Newfies are a weird bunch.

Almost seem comparable to rednecks, except.. More goofy.

Newfies? Rednecks? There is no comparison between a Newfie and a Redneck. Being married to Newfie I can tell you they are a pretty good bunch of people. I was stationed in Newfoundland and I never ran into any idiot Newfies. Now that I am back in Ontario, I still run into many Newfies that have joined the military and there is nothing they won't do for you.

By the way, Ontario is not officially bilingual only New Brunswick is, we are sort of bilingual here in Ontario.

A good Newfie friend of mine settled in Alberta and drives the biggest, meanest F350 duellie you have ever seen...

I stand corrected. I would have bet my last dollar that Ontario was bilingual.

At the provincial level, only New Brunswick is officially bilingual and only Quebec is officially unilingual (French only). In practice, all provinces, including Quebec, offer some bilingual services and some education in both official languages up to the high school level. English and French are official languages in all three territories. In addition, Inuktitut is also an official language in Nunavut, and nine aboriginal languages have official status in the Northwest Territories.

It is surprising considering half of Northern Ontario is french...but a higher ratio of population is mostly in Southern Ontario where there is less french. I know that Windsor has a french sector because a soldier who works for me is from there and he's french..
