You have had more luck then I. It started when I was 12 with a broken ankle, and just spiralled from there.

I have broken my collar bone, both ankles, both wrists, blew out both knees, and apparently I broke a vertabrae in my neck, but did not find out until years later after a car accident.

But, I will never quit. When I was a kid, there was a guy racing who was 81 years old. Ran the vintage woods class. Never went fast, but never missed a race. He was a cool guy.
i used to ride with a 67 year old guy. he would kick my a$$ in the woods. he rode ktm 450exc. when i rode in moab, the guy i rode with was late 60's early 70's and ranked #2 in the old guys class i think in the gncc. and his friend we rode with was #1.

Thats what I like to hear. I think I still have another 40-50 or so years of racing in me. LMAO!

Thankfully I have an incredibly understanding and supportive wife. Never once has she thought I should give it up. In fact, she usually pushes me even harder!

I know what you mean. I've finally hooked up with a good bunch of Woods riders. They're all in their upper 40's, 50's, and they Seriously Tear it up. A lot of wives don't let their guys get out like that...

We're heading to Hatfield McCoy in West Virginia in a couple weeks. My goal is to ride with my boys when they're in their 20's...

I'm riding a KTM 300exc. Great woods bike. I did the MX thing, but crashed my brains out too many times. I keep my wheels closer to the ground these days.

All my mom ever did was complain. LOL. She hated that I raced and always thought I should quit. My dad and I would roll out on friday evenings, sometimes earlier, and get back monday mornings. Race all weekend.

When I would get hurt, if it was early in the weekend, We would go back to the track and hang out and watch the races rather than go home. LOL.

I told my wife one day, that I was going to start taking it easy. She said yeah right. LOL.

I went to the track that weekend, and told her just watch, I am just going to cruise. That lasted the first 3 turns, then I was busting whips on the back tripples.

She bought me a Leatt Brace the next week.

ya, i hope to be riding when im older but now that im nearly 800 miles from home i can't ride and no where to keep the bike at college. im wanting to sell because my bike right now, financially IMO its not worth keeping to ride 2-3 times a year. and with the money i can get from the bike i am wanting to save, but parents aren't letting me do that.

from a guy that did that and regretted it...keep the bike.
life will get real busy and real expensive real fast, before you know you are married having kids and not have the $$$$ to get another bike.

when i am stressed or feel like sitting around that bike calls me, at this point in life nothing clears my mind like riding the bike. i ride every sunday with my 2 freinds and their kids. we try to get in an hour or 2 on Wednesday nights. we are not great riders but we all ride at the same level so its a race everytime.

well thats the thing, i cant ride it now and only time i can is when im home and my dads ACL is still messed up and he messes his knee up ever time we ride and he is having surgery early next year when his business trips slow down but i dont want him to screw it up again after his surgery. i was considering buying an old FJ40 for a trail rig so me and him could start doing that together

2. Would you happen to know if Budds Creek motorcross is opened to the public for riding or do I have to be a member or in a club? Thanks
You can rent out Budds Creek for the day. I believe it's like 400 or so for 4 or 6 people, can't remember. Luckily for me, my family is friends with the owner, so whenver there isn't an event I can go practice there for free.

Don't get me wrong. We ride pretty hard. And Fast! haha, but with "experience" you know your limits and don't push them as much when you were younger.

The thing is, I'm more interested in riding NEXT Sunday than going a "little bit" faster today...

I still bite it every now and then. I definitely rely on my protective gear.

Brother Dave's right. Try to keep the bike! Mine sat in a barn for 6 years before I was out of college, settled down, and ready to start riding again. Of course the Engine was seized on the old Can Am by the time I dug it out.

:o

I've always loved MX. I raced a little in the early 80's and have always followd the sport. I recently got into pitbikes. At 40 years old, they give me an excused to go slow! They are still a lot of fun. Me and my son ride almost every weekend.
