Any Knife Nuts on Here??

What do you guys think about Kit Carson (Columbia River) knives. They've got a couple that fit my needs really good. Love the looks, size, and everything of some of them. Price is good too. Just general purpose, nothing spectatular. Folding knive also. Thanks guys.

Kit Carson is a good knifemaker. He has done some good collaborations with CRKT. The issue is the quality of the CRKT line. They are made in Korea and China, mass produced to keep prices down. I have had several CRKT knives and I can say that they do not hold up to constant use as well as some other brands that cost a little more (Benchmade, SOG, Spyderco to name a few...) If price is your main issue, then the CRKT knives will fit the bill nicely. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. IMHO, the best knife for the money is the Benchmade Griptilian and Mini-Griptilian. Very stout knives that will last, and not break the bank. Here is a link to a site with some good prices and many different blade configurations. Good luck and let us know what you get!

BTW, I carry this: Microtech Socom Tanto

I actually currently have a Carson M16-13SF, but want to add a M16-13DSFG and a M16-10KE to the collection...just because. Go check them out and let me know what you think. I don't know much at all about the metals and stuff so trying to learn some of that. I'm not hard on a knife, but enjoy having a good one. My current M16, as well as the others I've handled are the easiest one-handed opening knives I've ever used. Great looking knives also, and they 'fit' me pretty good.

^^ x 2 about CRKT.
Great Designs by Kit, but not a good in the Quality arena. Spend a little more and get USA made. You will notice a big difference in Quality. I've spent a good bit of time in Asian Knife Factories and know 1st hand the differences in materials they start with.

If you want, drop me a line, and I can set you up with a Buck or 2 at my employee price.

I keep it simple with Buck. Got my first one free with my subscription to Bill Dance magazine, was impressed with the hold up of it. Haven't looked back. Plus the lifetime guarantee helps. I don't really have a need for a tactical, spring loaded, heavy **** knife. I like kershaw as well. Really slick knifes, but they are a little more expensive.
Fixed blade is a different story though. Would have to go with a Tom Brown tracker, don't know why, but I just love that thing. Or, Bill Harsey makes a badarse fixed blade as well.
