Thumbs down IPass users READ

The G/F just got back from driving school (62 in a 45) and she told me to be careful using my ipass on the IL tollways..

The teacher told the class on the downlow that they will be giving tickets out in the mail if you reach ANOTHER toll to fast.... i guess they already do this in Indiana from what he said. Just passing the good word on.

I saw this coming tho kinda sucks

They will be mailing out thousands of tickets daily if they do this. Who the hell does only 55 on any of the tollways? The general flow is about 70.

typical government bull****. using every technology they can against the average person without them knowing. you go and get a pass so you can improve the flow of traffic, and they use it against you

This method has been used in Europe for many years to catch speeders.

They have been talking about doing this forever. Look's like I'll be jumping off on Beverly Rd. from now on. There's no toll there.

I'll call BS on this one. No way to tell who was driving the car. At least with the red light cameras, it's a civil penalty (at least in GA) and no points on the license.

they have cameras on the tollbooths also. when you run one, they send you the ticket with a picture of yourself driving. just like the red lights.

Yes they do ... I received a 27.00 toll in the mail after our trip to NY this summer. I have been receiving a notice monthly, I figure if they still are sending me notices after 10 months I will finally pay the stupid toll ... mine was because a bus pulled over two lanes in front of me and slowed to almost a stop ... I could not see which lanes were pass lanes and which ones had attendants. I had the two dollars in my hand ready to pay and I look up and go SH#$ ... So now I have to pay 27 for a 2 dollar toll. BS

Those cameras are setup to capture toll violators. Pass thru the EZ Pass and not pay and get a picture in the mail plus a fine for not paying. These cameras are not to capture pictures of speeders.

I doubt that they will be using the cameras, they will simply calculate how long it takes for the transponder to get from point A to point B. The computers know to the second how long it took and know to the foot how far apart the 2 toll stations are.

They also have the technology to clock your speed as you pass under an open road toll gantry.

so they clock you how long it take to get from toll A to toll B and if your under the limit, you get a speeding ticket?

Yep, they can. They even could do that with the old toll road system of picking up a ticket when entering and paying when leaving.

if they go as far as using toll systems to capture speeders, it wouldn't surprise me if they create a technology to calculate if you were speeding and snap a picture. in ME and MA, ALL lanes have cameras. fast pass or not.

they will have so many people claiming they weren't the ones driving that they would HAVE to create a camera system like the red lights
