This will seperate the men from the boys.

This was an ad on a random web-page.

Do not watch if you fear your will of meat eating is not strong enough to survive:

Captioned "If you eat meat, we dare you to watch this video."
(Graphic) http://www.chooseveg.com/animal-cruelty.asp

I watched it, feel bad, but, alas, I will still be having steak tonight.

I think we all know that the life of animals brought up to be eaten is nothing to brag about, but the video shows how bad it can be. Although I cannot say im surprised.

Discuss.

wow is all I can say. I pity the people who allow themselves to carry out such means of killing.

We have a small cattle ranch in Northern CA, and i can say that the video is false in many ways. MANY farms/ranches do NOT do that kind of crap, and do not operate like that. It is mostly the large animal plantations that do so.

Just more media propaganda for those who don't see it first hand.

I understand what you mean, They do the same thing to the Greyhound Racing industry. I have been to hundreds of dog farms and never seen anything like what they say is happening, and I know it is not that way at my place. However occasional I run into someone who gets mad at me when I tell them what I do for a living. I just invite them over, and if they do come they are usually surprised at how nice it is, and how well the dogs eat. I know my Greyhounds eat better than some people, and they have lots of space to run an play. When you think about it logically it makes no since to treat them badly, if you don't raise them right they won't be fast, if they aren't fast then they won't make any money.

If you choose to put your human feelings into animals, and think the animal has your feelings, I guess it could be pretty disterbing. Fact is, they are animals. And if they are too stressed, that makes the adrenaline go into the meat, making it inedible I have heard. So I don't think they are suffering as bad as they want you to think.

you're kidding right? lol

I'll admit, not every rancher/farmer out there degrades and processes their meat in such a seemingly brutal fashion.. all propaganda aside, the majority of mass-production slaughterhouses dont have time to be "humane" to their livestock.. time is money and you gotta be efficient (steak is expensive enough as it is).. being mentally detached from the animals is seemingly the only way to cope with the working conditions in those slaughterhouses.. my only concern is that some of those idiots need better PPE, you can't just run around soaked in blood all day, bare-handed, and not expect to pick something up..

btw.. I watched the Kosher Slaughter video.. and daaayum! lol.. them Jews sure are crazy.. I always knew Kosher beef had to be bled out, but it's definately an eye opener seeing actual footage of it.. slit the throat, rip out the trachea, and toss the cow aside where it continues to stumble.. alive.. now that's wicked..

btw.. I'm no Vegan.. meat is too delicious..

It does sound like Alec, you're right. Times are tough for everyone if the most successful Baldwin is narrorating slaughterhouse videos.

It is what it is. Will I become a veg? no. Do I feel bad for them? yes. The resources needed to enforce anything are unobtainable. What can you do?

Can't remember the last meal I ate that didn't have a meat product in it. PETA can kiss my *ss too while they are at it. I hate PETA.

People for the Eating of Tastey Animals.

Anyways.. The thing that disturbes me the most was the de-hairing part, according to the video most are dunked and boiled alive, after they were dunked, the pigs only then had their throats slit. Very disturbing to me.

I just wonder who can work at these places. Seems like these slaughter houses would breed psycho's, being their workers are so de-sensitized to it.

On a lighter note, my steak was delicious.

Thats freakin hilarious how Alec Baldwin is narrorating that. The same guy that wants to send more food and aide to foregin countries.

First point:

Nobody can name a better, more cost efficent way of doing it, nor can deny that it needs to happen.

Second point:

We are humans, top of the food chain. If cows were ment to not be slaughtered by man, they would have apposable thumbs. Or brains that could function on a 1/4 the level of ours, or eyes that were ment for depth perception and hunting of pray like ours.

Third point:

Here is another point. How do you think our countries first few generations slaughtered their chickens? it wasn't with a lethal injection, it was with a hatchet or club. It is ok for them to do that but not for us to do it now?

It's sad how a lot of animals are tortured and put through hell before they are killed.

They sure are tasty though.

Life on the farm isn't what it used to be. The green pastures and idyllic barnyard scenes portrayed in children's books have been replaced by windowless sheds, tiny crates, wire cages, and other confinement systems integral to what is now known as "factory farming."

Today the majority of farmed animals are:

confined to the point that they can barely move,
denied veterinary care,
mutilated without painkillers,
and finally slaughtered -- often while fully conscious.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Its great how they take the absolute worst and most messed up places and conditions they can find and play it off as normal.
I have many words about this but will keep to myself because I know someone will get all fussy about something.

I absolutley cannot stand people like these, or PETA, because they are so damn ignorant about what is actually the normal and what REALLY happens. Do things like the video actually happen? Sure, but fa Christ sakes what these people make it out to be is rediculous.

BTW, I have an empty plate beside me where a nice huge New York strip used to reside.

There's a place for all of God's animals... Right next to the potatoes and gravy!
