Eagle Talons?

Ask if they have ever had the timing belt replaced. If the havent and they are higher milage run away from it as fast you can. My sister had one and the belt broke going down the highway at 75 MPH and dropped the vavles and broke a couple off and jammed them through the head. It was a pretty expensive fix even considering my dad did the repairs him self.

My advise - do NOT buy one. They are maintenance nightmares. Even if you do the work yourself parts are crazy expensive. My girlfriend had one and my brother had one. Girlfriends kept having major problems, she would have to shell out 1500 bucks to get it fixed and a week later the head gasket went, got that fixed and then something else in the engine started leaking, then it had issues running. This thing was a freaking 3 year money pit.

Brothers - kept having lots of little nickle and dime issues, like the girlfriends, everythime he would fix one thing another thing would go. The last thing to go. . .his tranny exploded. It was a manual transmission, he was shifting from 1st to second and heard a noise and it wouldn't move anymore. I came to tow him off the road and looked under his car, all the gears were hanging out of a huge hole in the bottom of the tranny. I have never hated a vehicle like I hate the Talon, I have spent way too much time assisting both the girlfriend and the brother fixing, locating parts etc for those pieces of crap. Both have gotten rid of them. Oh, and try to find a manual tranny at the wreckers for one. . . in all of Canada we found one and the price. . .$2000. yeah, no thanks. Bu-bye car.

Edited to add - both were just used as daily drivers, no racing etc.

Friend of mine has a 96 Eclipse GST which is the same car as a Talon. Done a lot of work to it, pushing 25 PSI of boost, fun little Mustang killer.

As far as problems go, no matter what the vehicle, if you're pushing the limits, stuff can break.

Mistsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, and Plymouth Laser are all sister cars. All chassis/drivetrain mechanical parts are interchangeable.

Are you guys joking? They are all consitered DSMs. I have had one for for many years before I got the GTO. I loved it. I would get one again in a heart beat. Yes, they are heartbreakers, but they are geat cars when you build them right. If you have enought time for one, and a daily driver.....get it. You can EASILY beat vettes and such for very little money.

I'm not joking. I already knew all that.

What I can't believe is the OP didn't know they are all the same car.

Oh and a turbo probe can't hold a candle to one of those cars. I know, I have a 91 Probe GT.

i was referring to a 93 PGT. 2.5 v6 turbo'd is a very spritely car.

i never followed the eagle/eclipse crowd. not my kind of car at the time.

A lot of work goes into turbo-ing a 2gen probe. Mine takes even more since it's pre OBDII. It can all be done though.
