Police State?

http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/0...eland_090708w/

I heard on satellite radio that this is the beginning of a police state. Who knows. I need to end my Sirius subscription. - Og

Sounds more like they are training a unit to handle things if the country is attacked again, only worse than 9/11. Dirty bomb, etc. Or like the Katrina aftermath.
As the saying goes, Prepare for the worst, pray for the best.

I did a little googlin' and there are plenty of conspiracy theories floating around. These days and times anything is possible. - Og

It's a pretty big leap from a homeland based unit to a Police State.

If the Army and the U.S. Govt. don't create such a unit, they are criticized for being unprepared and for not taking a 21st century approach to 21st century threats.

If they do create such a unit, they are criticized for creating a police state.

good... bout time. been relying on the national guard to protect the homeland AND CONUS. i think its a great idea.. i live on kirtland air force base and i'm prior army and my wife is active duty AF security forces. the only downside that i can see happening is PTSD kicking in and something bad happening.

they were wanting to pull us (my unit) out of Iraq to bring back for katrina and to keep order. THANKFULLY they realized we had been there for 12 months in a combat zone and then suddenly bringing them back to the civilian world would NOT be a good idea..

No like Katrina where in New Orleans they were looting anything they could find, and I am not talking food and water. And I include some of the police doing it.

Not when there are by far more bad guys who aren't police. Why do you think we have to keep guns? It ain't to protect us from the police.

Not what I meant. It pissed me off that the police took guns from law-abiding citizens. But I do think having the military trained and ready is a good idea.

Craz3d you really make yourself out to be this guy who believes all authority is horrible. All police officers are bad and don't do any good. It's really a shame.
