Yes we have the right to bear arms against our govt if the need arises. Having the Army trained to deal with natural disasters is not one of those needs. If people didnt act like animals when there is no one around to stop them then things like this wouldnt be necessary. The fact is that when things happen to cities and states like Katrina, the police arent equipped to handle everything at once, the citizens know this and they start taking advantage. Its quite pathetic, its like your a 4 yr old and the babysitter just went into the other room and you go crazy.

The Army stepping in and acting as police to help out does not give you the right to start carrying around a gun.

This is not the govt trying to get a hold of you, its the govt trying to be better prepared

 

how can anybody make the claim that it is better to have civilians shooting police, or police shooting civilians? That is a ridiculous aurgument. That being said Katrina was a natural disaster. Don't live ten feet below sea level on the coast of a hurricane prone region.

The second amendment WAS ment for people to be able to arm themselves against gov't. but police is not gov't its a peace keeping force.

The only reason you are allowed to carry a weapon, or own one legally is because the govt allows you too. Im a lifetime member of the NRA, own a stockpile of weapons, and i also work for the govt. The govt will never take my guns away from me. Do they have the ability too? Yes, if they wanted they can go from house to house and take your weapons away, they are going to have to use deadly force on a lot of people but they can get them from you, i dont have to bring up the Germans do i?

If it is my God given right to carry a gun, how come i cant get a concealed weapons permit? guess i should just carry one anyways since its my right. No, because i dont feel like getting shot.

You make it sound like they are training the Army to take over the world. They are training the Army to act as police when something like Katrina happens, which the national guard has been doing the whole time, the only difference is we are giving them proper training to do that, not just taking guys on their weekend duty and giving them a guna nd telling them to make sure none of the idiots loot the stores.

Why do you have a problem with this? Quit stealing when you think there are no cops around and we wouldnt have to waste the taxpayers money training Army guys to do this. End of story!

If the peace officer has probable cause to believe that the handgun is stolen, has an altered serial number, or has been used in the commission of a crime, the peace officer shall hold the handgun in evidence and shall submit a copy of his or her agency report to the department within 10 working days.

Your laws are the same as ours, im not a resident of Arkansas, therefore i can not carry (God has nothing to do with this). A govt employee (a cop) can come disarm you anytime they feel you are being a threat, that means, if you even look suspicous, the govt will take your gun. You also cant have it loaded. Whats the point of carrying around a paper weight thats shaped like a gun?


The point of the second amendment is to protect ourselves form a rogue govt. The perfect example of this is the *****. If our govt turned into a Hitler nation, he have the God given right to form up and protect our freedom from our own govt. If the govt sends some Army guys to help police a city after a natural disaster, that DOES NOT give you the right to not listen to them because they are soilders and not cops. You act like if a soilder was directing traffic in a manner you dont like, your gonna whip out a gun and think you can do whatever you want.

My point is, why are you even talking about this, the topic was the US Govt is training soilders to be cops when there are not enough cops to control the worlds idiots.
