Make A Wish

Hey Guys-

I was in a store the other day that was sponsoring a make a wish for a little girl who had a serious medical problem. I was in line waiting to check out and the cashier asked the person in front of me if he would like to donate one dollar to the make a wish foundation, the man replied "I don't want to donate to that bulls**t" got his receipt and walked out. I walked up and apologized to the cashier for the guys attitude (I didn't even know him).

My Ex Girlfriend had Kidney failure and lost both of her kidneys when she was about 13 years old. All through high school including the three years we dated she had to hook up to a dialysis machine every night at the same time. As long as work or lacrosse was not in the way i was by her side the whole time. She was always in so much pain but always kept a smile on her face and always cheered people up. One day she was visiting her sister and her mom calls me and i remember her exact words; "Drew, can you get to Children's Hospital? Kimberly finally got a kidney". Of course i raced down there and was by her side. Luckily the operation was successful and she is very healthy still to this day.

Last summer she got her make a wish because she had not turned 19 yet. Her wish was to take a cruise to the Caribbean. She got the wish granted and i had never seen her so happy in my life, her life had finally made a turn for the good.

Sorry for rambling on about it all but the point of the story is that if you get asked to donate to the Make A Wish Foundation please please do, its one dollar and it will make a kid anywhere from the age of 7 to 18 so happy...please its just one dollar. I am a poor college student, still i would rather see a little kid be the happiest he or she has ever been.

Have a good weekend guys.

D

This kind of links up with an article on here last week. A guy was supposed to build a go cart for make a wish and took the money but never delivered. How low do you have to be to take money from a child let alone in their condition.

My sister had a make a wish trip for our whole family to visit NY city. We went toured a ton of buildings (pre 911) and saw the world trade center buildings. Even saw Annie on broadway. The trip was amazing.

She survived 10 years of childhood leukemia including a very serious relapse.

I agree Make A Wish is a very very good investment for your donation.

We got a local guy here at RPM outlet (i think is the name) GREAT guy. He first made a handicap accesible van, with the help of Make-A-Wish Foundation. After seeing how happy the kid was, he has begun his own "foundation" doing one a year for a child in need. Last one, was a "hot rod" type van, completely customed out for the kid. The guy is just so damn nice, donating all his time and money into these projects. Seeing the kids face however, is priceless. He also set him up with a limo ride to see his favorite band, front row, in San Francisco.

Figured I'd share a story on similiar lines, with a much better ending. You can read more about it, I am sure, on the "Press Democrats" website. That the local newspaper, and they ran a very interesting article on the shop, the guy, and some of his newest, happiest clients.

Here is the guy:

And has helped my tune for trans shift points, and most likely will be working with me on custom tuning.

Thats basically all i can do. I offer help and services wherever possible, and donate a couple bucks when I can.

Trust me, it makes a difference. If no one donated, wonderful programs like this wouldn't exist. People like you keep em going, one dollar at a time (seriously)

Good grief - if you don't want to donate, what's the matter with just a polite "no thank you"? Calling it BS is uncalled for.

I have to say that I always donate to charities like that. A couple dollars here and there can make a big difference.
