It would make your truck run like the wind blows but you would need all 3 of them to get you through the rest of the month.

The high RPMs is what kills them .. if you don't go up there they last a lot longer.

It's going to be difficult to use them. They more than likely didn't have an intake or carb, and those intakes aren't easy to get. They are dry sump engines, which means they're going to need an oil tank and the required plumbing, and they'll need a special tranny for it as well. The starter mounts to back of the bellhousing, and points backwards, which may interfere with things, and the stock motor mount bosses have been ground off of the block, so it won't just "bolt in", either.

"he knew it was going to be a bad day when he came to work and saw a big hole in the wall"

That's classic

With some creative engineering someone could drop one into a car no problem...probably wouldn't very cheap but it would be fun until she blows up. Or they just might try and break into another team to get some more parts to get it up and running. But in the end I wouldn't think it would be worth while though.

im in the process of putting a midget motor in a 32 ford, those who know about midgets know that they were never meant to have a transmission bolted to them and they are dry sump as well

so can it be done? yeah, actually alot easier then this midget motor will be

I can just see them coming up to people in the neighborhood Lowe's or HD parking lots, saying "Hey, I've got a brand new Ford NASCAR engine I can let you have for real cheap...." ha, ha!

Or, I wonder if they thought they could sell them to someone in a lessor known racing series or something??

Well, I'm sure they are pretty much regretting the 'score' by now....

Even just coasting around on the track on a yellow, they have to keep 'em reved up pretty good just to keep 'em running right when they nail the throttle on the green.. so, I don't think they would make for a very good 'street' engine, no matter what anyway...

I think they'll end up in the hands of Gibbs. They've been cheaters and scoundrels all year long and IMO he's the kind of guy who'd try something like this.

ETA: I don't think he'll try to use them.... he'll just try to get some ideas from them.

IMO, the thiefs are probably small-time racers in the area that can't afford $150,000 in decent engines for their own cars. Could be dirt trackers, or any number of racing series.

My guess is they will keep them and use them in their own race cars rather than risk selling them.

Gibbs uses TRD engines, which are faster than the Roush/Yates engines. Very few (if any) parts would transfer, besides, every part on the TRD engines has a TRD part number on it.

I took some good pics of the newest TRD engine and intake 3 weeks ago in Fontana, if anyone is interested. They're about halfway down this page.
