Gas Just Went Up 50 Cents a Gallon!
Heck I live right next to a refinery here in Kentucky. Guess what? Our prices are higher here right next to the refinery than if you drive 100 miles in each direction. It's friggin stupid and I hope God grills these oil executives when they show up at the gates of Heaven.

The prices went crazy up here in Canada as well.
From $4.42 to $5.28 and climbing.
You ever notice how the prices take forever to inch down, but when they go up, it's "WHAM", bend over, here it comes.
Always the same BS reply too.
As soon as some gov't official questions the big oil, the answer is the same:
I remember when the first Gulf war was over, and Kuwait was liberated, the prices stay high for months.
When gov't officials started pressing the oil companies, their answer was:
Well Jim, before we can have the lower priced gasoline, the current 'higher priced' gasoline must be sold first. Once that's sold, then the new batch will be cheaper."
Soon as something happens, all of a sudden the cheaper gasoline at the pumps instantly becomes the higher priced gas. (unlike scenario #1)
It's the same with these storms, the stations paid "pre-storm" prices for their stock, but we get drilled in the *** right away with "post storm prices"
Starting today, I'm buying less, those ***** are getting less Habibi cash.

How do they justify doing this crap? And don't give me that "hurricane" s#!t! It's pure greed. No compassion for the thousands of coastal families running out of gas, stuck on the side of interstates trying to find higher ground. Gas goes up, locals panic and fill their tanks while the hurricane victims can't find a gas station with gas. Sick, sad and sorry. - Og
Because we keep buying it as fast as they can produce it. We've only dropped consumption by 1 -2 % since the prices started going up in 2004.

1. Illinois has high gas taxes to begin with.
2. Illinois is one of only 9 states that charge sales tax on gasoline.
3. You have extra county and RTA gas taxes in the Chicago metro area.
4. You have special EPA summer blend in the Chicago metro area that costs a lot more to refine than standard gas.
5. Illinois has the highest diesel taxes in the country, raising transportation costs.
Yes, your gas has gone up 20 to 30 cents in the past couple of days, but it shouldn't go any higher - your summer blend is all refined within a 100 mile radius of Chicago. The only way it should go higher is if the crude supply is interrupted.
Our gas here in Joplin has gone up 20 to 35 cents since Thursday.

Hell gas around here started going up on Tuesday! Went from $3.65ish to $3.95. Now at $4.20 and everyone and their brothers are waiting to get gas. This reminds me the gouging that took place after 9/11 around here. Later on the government fined the stations that raised their prices......this better happen again!!
Another minor update.
Kennesaw, GA, 15 miles from Atlanta.
There are 5 gas stations within about 2 miles of my house.
Reg unleaded varied from $3.99 to $4.20.
2 of the 5 stations were out of gas, including the one that still had $3.99 on the marquee.
I filled up last week at $3.47 per gallon which was about par for the area.
So, from fifty to seventy cents uptick, almost all since Thursday evening.
Interesting to me was that there were no lines and the open stations only had a few customers. And....traffic was normal for Sat. afternoon, heavy.
Sunday and Monday should be interesting.

Our gas was around 3.50 the beginning of the week and started going up from there. Now it's at 3.99.
