I have seen about everything today. I seen prices at 3.99 a gallon.....3.71 a gallon, 4.26 a gallon, and just got mine at 3.86 a gallon at Exxon. An inside guy that works at Marathon Petroleum says expect a minimum of .60 increase.

Whats bullchit, is that oil just fell under 100 bucks a barrel. There certainly is price gouging going on. Hopefully the gas retailers will take it in the *** after this is all over. I paid 3.59 earlier today. Funny think was.... All three octanes were the same price... because all of the tanks were full of the lower octane. Weird.

My town ran out of regular gas today. I went into our local station and asked the guy what to expect before the weekend was over and he said that if he had gas it would be 4.99 a gallon but what he had in the ground was all he was getting until after the Gulf is back up. About the time I was walking out he said he had just sold all the regular he had.

Why the hell do they raise the prices though? Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Because they have to make all the bucks they can if they face a possible day or two without gas. But wait, don't all gas stations "barely break even" on the sale of gas? Yeah, right!! Yeah everyone and their brother was buying gas today, but supply and demand doesn't work that fast. Anyone who can't see this as price gouging is a full on idiot.

Stealth, I'm with you. Anyone got an answer that isn't full of the excrement of bulls?

It's all a big sham, and they'll get what's coming to them.

I'd love to believe this, but who's to stop them? I mean, "Big Oil" has huge influence throughout this country. The CEOs of all the major companies are in bed with the Middle East; situations that cause disruption/conflict are music to their ears. It's in their best interest to keep prices high. Unfortunately, since we keep paying the higher prices, they've no reason to go back to pre-Katrina levels.

I really wish they could, but that's never going to happen again. The ONLY way it would is if some HUGE reserve were found on our soil, or in a country that wouldn't **** us around.

I wouldn't be concerned about gas folks... well, a little bit. Instead of buying gas, you should stock up on groceries, because the truck drivers will stop driving, or else the price of food will skyrocket.

Gas prices affect the market as a whole.
