I had looked at the bouy reports and none of those were showing winds over 30 mph. I assume the hurricane winds are confined to small area of the storm.

Hey PawPaw, didn't you say you just built a fishing camp? How did it survive? If IKE goes into your area, it looks like you'll be on the easy side of it......if there is an easy side.
My oldest daughter bought a fishing camp on Grand Isle almost 2 yrs. ago, they had about 9 feet of water go through and tore up the bottom which had a garage and a bathroom. The main living area upstairs was OK. The island itself was hit pretty bad. They have about a foot of sand on the main highway that need's to be cleared.

Been watching storm pulse sinc Gustav, pretty interesting to watch the hurricanes paths in my opinion. Hopefully Ike calms down before it gets into the gulf (unlikely) but hey it would be nice.

The "experts" are saying if Ike goes straight over the length of Cuba it will weaken significantly, then maybe it won't recover just like Gustav didn't.

Lets hope it does go straight over Cuba then. Feel kinda bad for the Cubans since they are going to get it pretty hard but hey I guess better them than us.

Those poor Hatians are taking a beating too. I heard on TWC that they are in need of charcoal to use for cooking. I'm guessing there isn't much by way of electricity there.

Looks like this thing is going to take a more westward path than earlier today. It would appear as though PawPaw is a storm magnet cause this puppy as of now looks like it's gonna pay him a visit. While this one doesn't appear to be very large, it might pack a bigger punch than Gustav. Folks to Houston need to be watching.

That just goes to show you how much some people are willing to pay to send the New Orleans peeps back.

It sure beats having the derelicts take-up residence in your city like they did here in Houston after Katrina. The last thing you want in your town are a bunch of NOLA's hanging out and clogging up your school systems, motel rooms and jailhouses......
