iTunes question
iTunes question
So I ended up getting an iPod the other day, and plan to fill it will Apple Lossless files, none of that lossy crap.
I already have iTunes on my computer with a bunch of music, but in .AAC format.
Now, I know if I connect the iPod, it will start putting all those song files on there, but I dont want them on their because they are AAC format.
Do I have to delete all my current AAC files, and upload them again in AppleLossless format, or how can I go about doing this?
I wondered if maybe I could download iTunes again to have an emtpy iTunes, then upload all my music to the new blank iTunes in AppleLossless format, and somehow make sure the iPod starts to recieve those files or something.
Maybe move all my current AAC files to a folder somewhere and have a blank Library to upload Lossless files into??
Anyone have any input on what I can do? Im not sure how to go about this.
Thanks!

Ok, so I connected the iPod and got the screen that you showed AZmidged.
I see that when I click on the 'Music' tab, that I can check the 'Sync Music' box, then click on a just a playlist ('Selected Playlist' circle) to load onto the iPod, correct??
So can I just re-import my CDs into a new playlist in all Lossless format, then load that playlist on my iPod and have all my Lossless files on it, and no AAC. files on the iPod then?
I dont even remember if I can just import a CD to a playlist and not the Library, or if I will end up with two of everything in my Library (an AAC version that I already have, plus a Lossless version that I will put on the iPod).

Na, I dont have anything on the iPod yet. I found a way to get them back, so all is good.
Im just deleting all the songs on my iTunes, and re-importing them from CDs in Lossless format.
I had some songs that I didnt have on CD, and only on my iTunes that I wanted to keep but accidentally deleted. Ill just have to have them in AAC format on the iPod.

If the library gets all messed up, you can start a new one by holding down the shift key while clicking on itunes (starting it).
The library doesn't actually have any song files, it just indexes them for itunes to use, so if you screw up a library or delete stuff (in the library only), the songs are still on the PC, just not in the library anymore.
