Garage Floor Coating

My wife and I are moving into our new home soon and I've always wanted a nicely finished garage. I figured I'd start out by finishing the garage floor as it's brand new and doesn't have any cracks, stains, etc.

I enjoy doing projects myself, and was looking at possibly purchasing a kit from Ucoat It (the UCoat® with UFlek® High Gloss Urethane Top Coat kit):

http://ucoatit.com/pgs/main.htm

Has anyone used this product or recommend another similar product? It seems fairly easy to do, but I'd like to hear from someone with actual experience installing Ucoat It themselves or a similar product. If you have pics of your floor, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks

That Diamond plate look is killer - Better than paint, salt eventually will lift it if you have to deal with that.

I would go for that stuff, looks great and has a treated surface for easy cleanup.

If the floor is shiny, you'll have to acid etch it first. You can find muratic acid at any of the home stores and cut it at the rate of 1 gallon acid, 3 gallons water. Just mop it on the floor, let it bubble up and rinse it off. It's best not to let it dry on the slab otherwise, expect to scrub it off. Once that's dry, we use Sherwin-Williams Urethane floor paint. We cut it with 30% mineral spirits the first coat and apply a generous thick coat as it's going to soak in. Let it dry at least 8 hours. Apply a second coat straight from the can. The important part with any urethane finish is the time required for it to cure. I'd suggest a two week cure time before driving or putting anything on it. Touch up is real easy. If you are going to be rolling engines around on it or have any heavy metal that you'll be working with, touch up is extremely important. Some of these coating don't touch up well at all. I have no experience with the coating you've listed. But the SW is a no brainer if you take your time.

Totaly agree.

It's even kind off flexible, so it takes abuse really well.

It's a great product. Someone scratched up my homeowners concrete pretty bad during construction and we used it. Turned out great and has held up well.

I have used it on my last three floors, and would never use anything else.

zero complaints, and a great value.
