Exactly!

Some people need to get over themselves.

It's ok for Bestbuy to sell you a 59 cent cable for $49.88, but when you use a little insider knowledge to get a deal, all of a sudden it's immoral?

Stop already!

Business is business, and using your knowledge to negotiate a good deal for yourself is not anymore immoral as it is illegal.

Immoral is stealing $5 fvrom the collection plate at your church.
Getting free stuff from Bestbuy and then returning their bloated warranty is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

...and no, they can't take the free stuff back as long as it shows a price of
"$00.00" on your bill of sale.

I know this for a fact.

Immoral Habibi

I took my truck into the dealer last week for an oli change, multi-point, and a couple of small things.

They phoned me and said

"Habibi, you need a new Orville Redenbacker Axle Seal"

So I say "How Much?"

He says, $142 installed taxes in"

I get my truck a few hours later, all the work is done, they present me with a bill for $61.

I say, what about the seal?

Oh, we covered that under warranty"

I question them 3 times about it, but they insist Ford is paying.

I pay my bill, thank them for the work, and leave.

The next day I get a call from the service manager telling me they made a mistake and it's not covered under warranty.

I have a bill of sale saying "Paid in Full"
The seal thing shows a price on the work order as $00.00

Legally, I could tell them to stuff it, and that would be immoral.
I went in and paid the $142 because it was the correct thing to do.

Me not paying that wouldve been immoral, but jacking BestBuy out of a couple of 50 cent cables is being a smart shopper.

Whatever helps you sleep at night

Im not trying to start **** with you, i just really dont see the difference...

you say jacking best buy out of a couple of cables is not wrong. why not? because you and BigMan dont think so?
i know they arent perfect either but as a business owner I have customers trying to jack me out of **** all the time under the pretense of being "smart shoppers"

why not just make a legitamite deal with the manager at bestbuy like i have dont time after time instead of trying to cheat?

The proper thing to do is see if the cable is still on warranty. From Monster's website:

For warranty service, please call toll free (877)800-8989, and we will guide you through the warranty service process.

No, it is being a thief but if telling yourself you are a smart shopper helps you sleep at night then so be it.
If you do not like Best Buys practices don't shop there. Stealing from them is the reason prices get jacked up to begin with. Everyone pays for the "free" stuff you get. You didn't pay for them you got them free with the overpriced warranty you returned/cancelled.

Fellas,

On a pure technical debate, you two are correct, I agree with you.
There is a "spirit' of an agreement, and there is also the "letter' of an agreement.
I wholeheartedly admit I am only following the letter of the deal to suit my personal agenda of saving a few bucks.

Do I feel bad I'm not allowing Bestbuy to make 5000% profit on my account?
Heck no! I buy lots of stuff there, they do ok off me.

As a matter of fact, one of the sales guys there who I happened to befriend told me about this little angle himself.

I'm a pretty honest fella, but man, I apologize I'm not as morally grounded as you two guys.

No worries, none of us are perfect. I know I am not.

The letter of your agreement was free stuff for purchasing a warranty, the cancellation of the warranty broke the agreement.
