That lens is for a 35mm film camera and does not have image stabilization. At the zoom with 300mm having a tripod and good IS is a must. But thanks for looking out bro!

Second, that pic of the golden is AWESOME! The day my wife and I find a house to buy, hopefully soon, I am heading to the breeder for a pup. I had one as a kid growing up and cant wait to have another in the house. Nice photo!

I will be buying a house in 6 months and hopefully can find something in the country where he can roam free and play in the water all he wants.
I have heard similar things but I would thoroughly research this before you dropped some cash on it. I mean, why would they make a DSLR lens that costs almost $600 if you could buy one for $119? I dont think the IS is the only difference between the two. Let me know what you do and how it works out for you.
I know I can use any Nikon base lense on my D40 but I wont have auto focus with it because the motors for auto focus are in the lense it self for the newer cameras. I belive that is the real differnce that you are seeing in the lenses that you are looking at.
I use a Canon 40D with either a fisheye, the kit lense, or a 70-200 IS 2.8. Here are a few that I have at work with me. Thses are just some, I really enjoy sports photography. I shoot for our school, all sporting events.
